So, for weeks I've noticed that my stats on my first show, my "promo" show are way, way higher than anything else. When iTunes first came out, I had a great leap in traffic, 90% of my listeners listen in iTunes. The stats on the first show jumped quickly over 1000, and about 15% of those people appeared to become subscribers. Then stats on that show plateued, and I stopped getting new subscribers. Fair enough, I thought, anyone who wants to listen is probably listening now.
But I happened to be doodling around the new iTunes, and to remind myself what that long-ago intro show sounds like, so I did what any browser might do: I clicked on the show itself and listened to... the first 20 seconds of my first show! It totally died. Later I checked the stats on show #0, and there were no change. By all appearances, iTunes is caching a busted copy of the show somewhere. No wonder nobody is subscribing!!!
Anyone have any experience with this? Is there anything I can do? I guess I can totally rejigger my feed, and the files, and everything, but that's easier said than done, and I still don't know if iTunes will pick it up correctly.
