Recommendations much appreciated for where to spend the bucks.

My podcast is political, if that affects the answer.

Let's assume I'd spend up to $100/month at first to see what happens.

Thanks!!

I do a couple of podcasts. For my technology podcast (http://www.radiomacguys.com), I do viral marketing (particpating in Macintosh forums, answering questions, developing relationships, etc.). For my local North Florida podcast (http://www.tallycast.com), I am trying a new strategy. I had a case of postcards printed. I'm doing cooperative marketing with local bars and coffeeshops where I leave a stack of the cards. I'm also doing advertising in one of the alternative news weeklys.

Nothing beats the advertising of putting a good show together and the public noticing your work and telling others about it. Networking with other podcasters is essential and can help build your show not only content wise but also with listeners. I like to say that my audience may not be huge but it's filled with some great talent and that in itself gives me pride.

Put together a promo and send it out to other podcasters you know, if you make one, send it to me at Ihateyourshow@gmail.com and I'll be happy to plug your show.

Depending on what side of the political fence you're on, my first thought was checking out how much The Onion charges. Probably more than 100 bucks I'm sure.

You also might look into the online version of your local newspapers.

Thanks for the replies!

Some of the directories offer advertising.

Anyone ever tried them?
