Folks,
I recorded this PSA early this morning during a fit of insomnia. I would appreciate it if you would play it in your podcasts. Thanks.

Thanks for the PSA, Dave. Very well done. I started asking listeners to donate to relief organizations yesterday, and this is definitely going into today's show.
To everyone reading this post. If you are going to ask your listeners to donate to hurricane relief, make sure you recommend reputable organizations, like the American Red Cross. I'm sure there will be countless bogus organizations out there in the next few months that will be asking for "donations", but are really fronts to steal your money. This happened after 9/11, and I'm sure it will be the same this time.
It's going to be months before some areas are habitable again... and it's going to take everyone's help! Let's really show the power of this new medium!

I will play it.
You should make one that is 20-40 seconds long.
It probably would fit into more shows. Maybe get more playtime.
Just a bit of advice.
you can expect us to play it on our next show (KAPC29).
Good idea Man, thanks much.

I like even more hearing it a few times. I am going to add the PSA to our RSS feed if that's cool.
Thanks!

Great idea, Dave; thanks very much for doing that. I'll put that on before my show tonight.
Personally I donated to the Salvation Army; over the next couple days, I'm sure a site will pop up listing all the legitimate organizations assisting with Katrina relief. If anyone finds a site like that could you let us know here?
Thanks!

Wichita Rutherford is asking all podcasters to do a promo encouraging people to give to relief funds.
Tip to add to such promos: Many commercial business will match your funds. There are a couple of local stores near me that are doing that. Donating through them doubles your gift.

You can check out: Network For Good (http://www.networkforgood.org/topics/animal_environ/hurricanes/) where you can donate to a lot of charities and organizations. Its been around for a few years.
Founded in 2001 by the Time Warner Foundation and AOL, Inc.; the Cisco Foundation and Cisco Systems, Inc.; and Yahoo! Inc., Network for Good is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Vienna, VA.
What's nice is that you can also fiind places to volunteer, setup a profile with your favorite charities and even setup a reoccuring donation list.
Also noticed Apple had a donate link for Red Cross in iTunes. They're donating 100% of what hits your credit card:

Shamelessly Bumping This Thread-
This is chance for Podcasters to get some much needed attention, plus its time to do the right thing.
Play one of Disaster PSA's here, or make your own so others can play it.
Thanks for everyone's help. If anyone else wants to help keep this topic noticable that would be great.

Hey All:
I am truely touched by the support podcasters and listeners are lending to the folks down south affected by Hurricane Katrina. These PSAs are excellent...in fact, a new site has been launched to share these PSAs and text comments as well. From this site you can also make a donation to the Red Cross.
You can visit: www.podshow.com/relief
Browse on over to that site, provide a link to your PSA and let the world know that podcasters and podcast listeners can make a difference!

This was a fantastic idea.
We just added our contribution to the site. Sam wanted to do the PSA all by himself, so we came up with a :60 spot that anyone is free to use.
