OK folks... I'm giving away three copies of this book on next week's Sound of Young America broadcast:

Here's how it works.

As you can hear in this (http://libsyn.com/media/tsoya/tsoya082705.mp3) show, a long-time listener emailed me to ask for advice on how to apply The New Sincerity (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=3752794&blogID=28287355&Mytoken=20050830121408) to his love life..

In his words:

Although my friends are sick of hearing me talk about it, I am a firm believer in the concept of the New Sincerity. But during my formative years, I developed a sarcastic sense of humor which is proving hard to shake. It is particularly causing trouble in my relationship with my girlfriend of 14 months. She needs complements delivered with sincerity, but I don't want to resort to cheesy complements smelling of OLD sincerity. To retain my sense of humor and originality I end up giving her half boring sincere
comments like, "I really like that shirt on you," or "Your butt looks great in those pants;" and half sarcastic comments like, "Wow, I can smell that wonderful perfume from across the house," or "Those high heels are going to feel great on your feet after a long day." She ends up getting lost and frustrated with my snippity sarcastic remarks and forgets the forced sincere comments.

How does Jesse Thorn, America's Radio Sweetheart, do it? What's the "New Sincerity" way to complement your girlfriend? You seem to have a nice functional relationship with your girlfriend. The Summer of the New Sincerity is drawing to a close and I still haven't mastered it.

So... I'm taking suggestions. Email your suggestions to me at splangy@splangy.com, or post them here and email them to me, along with your name and address.

The three best suggestions will be awarded books. All the rest will get a New Sincerity pin for their commitment to the cause.

You have until Saturday! Go!
