Some radio shows split their podcasts into multiple sections--hour 1, hour 2, hour 3, hour 4, etc. Itunes has the setting to download only most recent or download all episodes. If I have it set to most recent only, I just get the last hour every day, if I have it set to all episodes, it downloads everything for all my podcasts, even the ones that I have heard before.

Any way around this with Itunes? I still use ipodder for some shows not listed in Itunes, but I want to get away from that to have fewer aps taking up memory on my PC.

for the moment you are out of luck with iTunes. They don't have specific timings per podcasts. The download/update rate is set for all podcasts you subscribe to.

I don't seem to have your problem - eg I listen to Free Talk Live which has 2 episodes a night...I always get the latest 2 episodes

I have it set to When New Episodes Are Available Download All (which I have assumed means downloads all new episodes rather than all episodes). Works for me anyway. However, I do mark my podcasts as played as soon as they hit my podcasts section of iTunes.
