Hey everyone,

Sorry if this question has been answered before (I did a search on the topic but couldn't find anything).

How does one go about submitting a show for consideration to be mentioned on Adam Curry's Podfinder? Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Carmen

i'm not really sure that you "submit a show" i think he pretty much just "finds" and advertises the shows he likes/wants to.

Be listed at ipodder.org, and ping them with every new show.

Make a killer promo (30 seconds or less) and send him a link.

the www.podshow.com website spells it all out here: http://podshow.com/podcasters-submitshow.html

not sure how adam picks from them, but that is a start. i think there is also a place to submit a promo for the sirius satellite show as well.

What happened to his push for "shorter shows and longer promos"?

LOL - Adam picks them. You slay me sir! Try PW Fenton or somene else at Podshow. :) Maybe he picks a few. I think the staff do all the work nowadays.

Here's my tips based on all the stuff AC has said on the DSC and PW has mentioned in these forums....

a) clear email title - e.g. "Podcast Shuffle Promo for DSC, Sirius, PodFinder"
b) linkup your MP3 rather than attach and name it "myshowname_promo.mp3" or something else very clear.
c) describe your show (make it easy for them to know what you're all about) in your email
d) don't include a fan testimonial in your promo stating that your show is better than theirs.... I actually made this mistake but PW still put me on Sirius and DSC. :)

Jeff

PS: Ferf - AC is always talking about PCA on the DSC but what he says in not rooted in reality... like the other day he said there was a place on PCA to submit promos.. where's that? Is it coming?

Awesome - thanks for the info everyone! I'll wait till I have a few more decent episodes finished up first, but it's good to know how to go about doing more promotion once I'm ready.

Take care,

Carmen

I sent a couple of notes to submit@podshow.com and to AC's address with a link to a 2:30 minute promo (http://travelcommons.com/podcast/travelcommons_promo_1.mp3) that described the TravelCommons podcast and provided a bunch of excerpts from prior shows. I never heard anything back, but then in 1 week saw my subscribers double (as reported in Feedburner) and a significant increase in downloads. Had no idea what was causing the pick-up until a new subscriber dropped me a line and mentioned that he had heard my podcast in Podfinder IV. I downloaded it and saw that I was the 6th podcast featured (out of 10).

I looks like I've kept most of the new subscribers. I also sent a thank-you note to Adam and PW for featuring me.

So you had no advance notice? Man, that scares me, I would have such a huge bill from my host if my listerners doubled.

Agreed. I had assumed that those mentioned on the Podfinder got some sort of "heads up."

Nope. JImK posted something about his experiences a few weeks ago:

Never ONCE was I offered feed services, bandwidth, *nothing*. I didn't even know I was IN the show until it was up on iTunes and I started listening to the episode and heard my name mentioned. No one has checked in with me to see if I need help with bandwidth. No one has made any contact at all about anything at all. Not that I need the assist...but what's with the weird little white lies?

Full Msg: Why is Adam Curry stretching the truth? (http://www.podcastalley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3419&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=)

Now I think if you submit something, you should be ready for 2-3x downloads just in case. However if they pick your show out of a hat, they should tell you before hand.
