Can't wait to hear the review. I know they are rude, crude and silly, but they still make me laugh quite often. :)

I can get behind many of your comments about the show, including the compression thing (which I never noticed before, but now I can't help but hear), but if you don't find them funny then you surely have an under-developed sense of humour. Keith and the Girl is one of the only podcasts that consistently makes me laugh.

Well, a couple of points regarding this.
1. Even though we listened to parts of several episodes, it is possible we didn't hear them at their best.
2. After we had recorded our commentary, when I was going through for clips, I did laugh at the Dan Klass stuff, which was quite funny, once I got over the levels issues.
thanks for expressing your perspective on this,

i must have a seriously under-developed sense of humor. b/c i just wasnt feeling
them. i un-subscribed.
maybe i need to give them another chance.
i think i just wasnt feeling keiths 'world view' - i dunno. its hard for me to find
people funny who i think have incorrect world views (ie: not like mine).
i had an argument w/ a friend about this, he said he still finds things and people
funny that dont correspond w/ his world view.

That's a perfect description of the dictionary difference between being close-minded and open-minded. In your case, you may be cutting yourself off from enjoyment and/or learning. Your friend will *always* have a more broad range of experience, fun and possibly knowledge compared to you because he doesn't cut off the idea of experiencing something that doesn't fit his world view.
Funny is funny regardless of world view. Maybe you refuse to acknowledge that something is funny because you disagree with the world view presented...or, maybe you just don't think it's funny because it isn't tickling your funny bone. Humor is weird that way. One guy will crack the frig up, and the next guy just goes "Huh? Why is that funny?" for no good reason.
Listen to what you like...just try to be open to new stuff too.

hahahah....funny...the exact type of lame response i was expecting from the
post i gave.
come on dude....go DEEPER before you rspond to YOUNGBLOOD.
i was expecting the surface, lack of thought, response you gave...but i didnt
think somebody would give such a grade A lame lack of thought response.
but there is something past the surface... go deeper dude.
......and 'world view' is not the exact right world i am looking for...perhaps
'personality' is the right word...and i think 'world view' is included in 'personality'.
so, yes, i'll say again that i don't like entertainers (especially comedians and radio hosts) who have a personality that i feel is flawed/incorrect/annoying..
so guy, tell me what do you find FUNNY, what content do you find funny? what type of person do you find funny.
are you a republican or a democrat? do you find john kerry is dumb jokes funny?
do you find george bush is dumb jokes funny? do you find both funny?
so you think all world views funny? is not comedy the very act of judging one
world view as funny-while one is not.

There are those of us who listen to different points of view, and those of us who don’t.
Some people confuse being “open minded†with treating all POVs with respect and acceptance. These people are morons. If you leave your mind that open, spin doctors will fill it with bullshit. On the other end of the spectrum are those who simply can’t tolerate any other POV. They go into attack mode whenever anything other than theirs is presented. They usually think they’re well informed, but all their information comes from sources that agree with their POV. People who get all their information from NPR and the New York Times are just as ignorant as those whose sole source of information is Fox and Rush. When they listen to Terry Gross or obsess over the NYT editorial page they’re not learning anything, they’re just adding depth to their ignorance.
One of the most important parts of a healthy sense of humor, at least from my POV, is the ability to laugh at yourself, and your own beliefs and POVs. I regularly listen to Le Show, although I disagree with most of Harry Scheer’s politics. It’s still funny.
All POVs are funny. Anyone who thinks their POV is sacrosanct is an idiot, and stupid people are always funny.
i was expecting the surface, lack of thought, response you gave...but i didnt
think somebody would give such a grade A lame lack of thought response.
and 'world view' is not the exact right world i am looking for
So you can’t express yourself clearly, and use that as an excuse to attack someone. Lovely.
We just had the board’s biggest dick leave in a huff, (or a minute and a huff) promising to boycott this place. I guess nature abhors a vacuum.
BTW, Office Max is having a sale on capital letters. You might want to stop by and pick up a few boxes.
I haven’t listed to the show, because it sounded like a couples cast to me, and I simply don’t care for couples casts. But maybe I’ll give it a try.

I'm not a big couplescast fan either, but KATG is actually done well. More like a real radio show with two hosts, but free spirited like a podcast should be. I like Keith's sarcastic little take on the world even when I think he's wrong or uninformed on a particular thing, and Chemda keeps him human. It can drag at times...they do an hour a day every weekday. But when it's good, it's really good.

As usual-
Eric and Cohry hit the nail on the head with this
review. Couldn't agree more on practically everything
they said. This isn't that complicated. There is
nothing special (imho) about this podcast. The
compression issues are huge also. Good call
Komputadora. I also think that there is very
little lasting value in sarcasm. I think that
sarcasm has one of the shortest longterm
appeal factors of any style of humor. Its ok
but no seriously bumming news next time
plx. Yes, I know plx is not a word. Hittman-
why are you still being rude to people. This
forum is just too agro. Even in this little thread
calling people a dick and treating people like
****. Man <sigh>. Whys everybody gotta be
so heavy. :|
All POVs are funny. Anyone who thinks their POV is sacrosanct is an idiot, and stupid people are always funny.
Wow- I couldn't disagree with this any more. I don't think stupid people are always funny, I don't think that all POV's are funny. As far as people thinking their own POV is sacrosanct? Perception is the only reality dude.
BTW- what other podcasts did they bash? I would love to know
more about that. Any know or have a link?

Whys everybody gotta be
so heavy.
This is a point that is easy to agree with. Now might be a good time for anyone who has made their point that they don't like anyone in particular or anyone at all to move on to the more important part of their own posts, as well as others. Constructive criticism about the podcast in question is really helpful to both the show being reviewed, and others that have yet to try out the show. Taking a moment to bash someone (especially sideline and unrelated) during your post is bad practice and not very respectful. It would be nice if we could all just start governing ourselves in this area.
We all want to live in this house, let's do what we can to make it livable and fun for the other residents too. Right?

The unsaid elephant in the room is that, in life, people who publicly criticize others for non-constructive reasons usually lower their public reputations by a lot.
Look at the people that in the last six months that have posted sheer personal insults on these boards. How many do you respect? How many of their podcasts have you checked out? Don't answer here - I don't want to add to the insult. But I think we all know the answer.
The truth is, if you want to grow your podcast, posting good advice, thoughtful insight, or funny comments on these boards is a great way to help do that. Honestly, this fact is kind of a no-brainer but I always find it amazing how many don't get it.

As usuality, E n C are close to the same mark I made when listening to KATG. Nothing against the KATG podcast- anyone who does a PC at all deserves some kudos for effort, and KATG is significantly better many of the thousands of PC's out there.
I must say that these days, there are sooooo many really good PC's, that we (all PC makers) should all give ourselves a collective pat on the back (NOT my *** back, butt higher... yeh- my back back shoulder area back... yeh, there... isn't that better?) followed by a group hug.

I think I resemble that remark. :)
I would like to say in my own defense, even if I wasn't one of those you meant ;)...I try REALLY hard not to discuss shows I don't like. I simply refuse to talk about them. I don't listen to them and I don't discuss them. I did it once a few months ago on my show, and I didn't like the way it came off...so never again. Even in a heated argument with a person and their ideas...I don't resort to bashing a show. A person? Their statements? Bash bash bash. Not the show, though. Too cheap.
Sometimes that would be the easy way to go, and I do mean EASY. But I don't do it. It's weak sauce.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion...And while I agree that conflict can sometimes spark innovation and change, this can be done without attacking others, being rude or using profanity. So much good has come from these forums and not because people took aim at each other. Also, it is my opinion that people here are touchy because they helped write the 25,000+ articles that make up this forum and have helped and will continue to help some many people find, understand and learn more about podcasting.

JimK and Patrick from NLO have spent more time arguing with people on PCA then they have in real life.

If I was middle-aged, would that be my fault? Is that an insult?
Yes, it would be... so STOP AGING, or it will make your podcast suck, and your numbers fake.
:P
On to a bit of seriousness. It's not within the rules for a registered member to setup a duplicate account, particularly for the purpose of starting an intentionally inflammatory thread. How about if you just be a man and post as yourself, or just discontinue using this new fake profile?
<just as an observer>
By the way: if Patrick's cast ratings and subscriber numbers were solely based on cheating, then he would have to have setup a LOT of fake accounts on his forum too. His show forum is bigger than most show forums in terms of registered members. I can tell you from having a much smaller subscriber base (listen to Vox Monitor show 59 to see their probably accurate take on why) that the number of people that will sign up and give you feedback on your show forum is a very small percentage. If his very small percentage of forum registrations are bigger than most shows... is it possible that his numbers might be that huge too?
Does it really affect the content or quality of your show? Cheating = bad. Yes. Good, you remember what mom taught you, but pages of debate about 1 podcaster doing it?
Let's get back to actually talking about podcasting before PCA is a ghost town. Bad idea? Really?

I know the moderator thinks he knows who I am, because the email address I used to register with happens to have the same extension as a show that is listed here. I work for that show - I am not an on-air host, nor do I represent the views or opinions of that show.
I am simply a graphic designer that works for a show. I don't want to say the name of the show only because they probably would not want to associate my opinions with their show.
(They happen to like Patrick and NLO - so I know they'd be pissed.)
Anyways - now that you know my story, can I please go on using the name "concerned listener"? Believe me, it describes what I AM more than "VERSION 3" does you.
