hey guys, I just found google talk (http://www.google.com/talk) it is yet another skype copy-cat. I haven't tested out the sound quality yet, but it sure looks cool.

Google will be taking over the world in the next few years. (see latest Podcheck Review (http://www.podcheck.com)podcast)

I don't think it's a Skype "copy-cat" rather, it's like a variation on a theme. Yahoo has voice service, MSN has voice service, AIM has voice service so wouldn't it stand to reason that Google's first messaging system would also have voice service?
Anywho, I haven't tried the audio quality, but the text messaging is pretty smooth.

I got an e-mail "invitation" to join from a friend of mine today. Seeing as though I just got on board with Skype two weeks ago, I'm not real keen on adding another icon to my desktop.
But, yes, with that said, Google will be taking over the world regardless of whether or not I'm on board.

I love the google talk interface, but it's still a little too no-frills right now. For example, you can't chat with multiple people at once (let alone talk with them).
Also, bothersome, is the fact that, by default, everyone in your GMail list of contacts appears in your contact list, without their approval. This means people can msg peopel without getting their permission first.

Check this out.

Here is an idea: GoogleTalkCast
Announce on your blog that you will have a GoogleTalkCast at a specific time (be sure to specify Eastern, Mountian, Pacific, Central, etc). At this time you will record your regular podcast, but your listeners can listen live, and maybe even interact with you.

I saw that, but does that mean that you need to have multiple conversations open? You can't have a multi-user voice chat.

Yeah, one of the TWiTers mentioned that. He was going to try it, but then realized that it currently can not be done.

I hope that they will allow for multi-user chats/voice conferences.
