You could also title this article, "Greg Lindsay is a player hater."

You know what articles like these fail to consider is the unique content that individual podcasters offer over what the mainstream media spews forth. He likes to point out that not a single podcast has grown into a brand name. Well, Rome wasn't created in a day, and neither was NPR, BBC and Clear Channel. Hell, less than 1 in 10 people even know what a podcast really is. While itunes may give preference to corporate podcasts, rival players will eat away at their market share once folks realize they don't need an ipod to listen. The market is too new to predict the future of podcasts.

and, if you check the top 100 on iTunes, the indies are starting to knock the big guys down the list.

Another question...can we still consider shows under the PodShow umbrella indie? I mean, they are aggregating in order to appeal to a wider audience.

Thoughts?

My opinion is that the moment they intend to turn profit above and beyond the cost of doing/hosting/producing the show they are no longer "indie". Independents typically complete a project for themselves, the project itself or to get out of indie status. I don't see why that isn't generally true of podcasts. Wouldn't that make all of the podshow podcasts no longer indie?
