Ok, this one is a bit of a departure for our show but you don't grow unless you're willing to risk making mistakes, right? right? lol

Pat's visiting parental units so I manned the controls on my own this week. If you are interested in the 1920's and/or jazz music, you might find the first half of this podcast interesting. If you don't know if you are interested in the 1920's, you just might learn something interesting. One thing is clear -if you hate the 1920's - i.e. one of those famous 1920's haters - stay clear....

--------------------

Bix Beiderbecke - Dreams By The Lake

Oh my - it's Jeff alone again! Yep, Pat is off this weekend so we change the format up a bit. I hope Pat is not mad!! Jeff talks about one of his boyhood jazz idols (Bix) and through the presentation, an interesting look at the 1920's. Listen to a sample of some of Bix's jazz solos as well as an original song Jeff wrote last year about a summer in 1924 called "Dreams By The Lake". The song won quite a few honors on Garageband.com last year.

The second half of this podcast features some of the 'best of the first 20 shows'.

Pat will be back next week for more of a 'normal' show. Learn, laugh and love with Jeff and Pat!

CooL!

It always amazes me when someone else has actually heard of Bix! lol

I still believe that there is a great movie out there just waiting to be made - his life is a great metaphor for the 20's.

(there have been several movies loosely and/or directly made about Bix's life - but all were somewhat mediocre).

wiki bix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bix_Beiderbecke)

I use MusicMatch Juke Box. It has a great random DJ.

Fun to plug in all the references for a musician and see what comes up. Even more interesting if you also subscribe to Musicmatch on Demand. You can tell the DJ to create a % of the mix from the MMOD Libary.

PS: Just finished listening to the episode. Great. Checked a few more to take a listen to later.

Thanks for the cast.

Never know, you might be Bruising with Susan.

Jeff, have you thought about making The Dash a mascot or co-anchor? Could be a funny bit. AND it would appease the naysayers by turning your "gimmick" into actual marketing! Then Patrick could sleep at night!

At this point, I would totally by a "Dash" t-shirt, btw. Just to remember July '05 and the launch of iTunes 4.9.

I don't want to be Bruisin' with Susan - that's for sure!! lol

Pete - funny! I don't want to make the dash any worse than it is already. In fact we're going to fly solo later this week.... will the dash reappear? Maybe THAT should a contest (of silliness).... But really - I meant the dash to be there since February ;-)

LOL - that IS pretty funny (in a very 'inside' kind of way - nobody I know in 'real' life would have a clue what that meant)
