Here's what I think is a great tip from Rob at Podcast411.
As many of you know, by default iTunes plays the oldest listed enclosure in your feed when someone is navigating the iTunes 4.9 podcast directory and double-clicks your podcast.
As a result, in my case, they hear a crappy old episode. Well, why not make that last entry your show's promo? That way the listener can have a better idea of what your show is about.
I know I have had plenty of listeners click on my oldest show and listen to about 600K of the file before moving on or subscribing.

Huh! Not a bad idea. Now I'm thinking about editing up our promo (http://www.k9cast.com/promo/k9c-promo01.mp3) now special for iTunes and end it with "iTunes users click the subscribe button now or visit our website for more information" or some such. Though I'm pretty sure Steve Jobs or someone had been quoted as saying that iTunes users would get a full episode "for free" but they would have to "subscribe" (also for free mind you), to get the rest. So that kindof breaks their model.
Either way I think its a cool idea. Thanks

How would you make a new file into your oldest enclosure? Just post it and fudge the date?

If you use a cms most of them will allow you to change the dates. BRILLIANT idea btw. I was thinking the same thing. People will just move on when they hear it.

how about putting in a feedback (trouble) ticket and just let them know how you feel? call me old fashioned, but isn't that a little better than a permanent workaround?
