Why is it there twice under two different names?
Or am I missing something?

One is made by Kevin Rose, the digg developer, the other podcast, the "diggcast", is an old podcast (im not sure its even active) but produced by another person all together.
DiggNation is the podcast you would want to subscribe to.

Interesting to see the massive amounts of votes they accumulated in one day ;) For both a defunct show and a brand new show. I'm sure Kevin's "talents" have nothing to do with it though 8)
Maybe this is why the PCA is so slow the last few days?

Ahh, it is likely then, that people voted for the wrong one, (dead one), by mistake? Probably searched for one and got the other.

Wow. That does alot for one's ego when a podcast that doesn't even exist not only gets more votes than ours....but makes it to the top ten!

The video for diggnation is so much better than the audio.

I must admit it seemed strange to me as well. However, after listening the show I found out that they have some history with the Tech TV Show "The Screen Savers" and one the (Fill In) Co-host of G4 TV. Plus, they have a very large following on their web site. Where they have a video blog and audio podcast.
All in all, seems to be above board from where I see it. Just another example of Media Based Podcast's (Not to be confused with Media Sponsored Podcast).

I actually talk about Diggnation in my latest podcast because Alex (the co-host) is actually a member of my comedy improv theater. In fact, we've been talking about getting together with some improv friends to play video games. I had NO CLUE he podcasted (or much of a clue about his G4 stuff...) but leaving improv class last Wednesday night, I heard him mentioning a podcast.
So I said "Hey! I have a podcast!" and he goes "You do? Cool!"...
And then he proceeds to tell me that they've only had two episodes, are listed number 2 on Podcast Alley, and have about (GULP!) **50,000** listeners!! (He seemed pretty surprised at this himself, actually.)
And gee, I was all excited to have a couple hundred listeners. :-) But then again, I haven't been on TV or anything lately...so...
At any rate, he's a very nice guy, and fun to improv with for sure.
That's LA for ya. :-)

Great story. Tell Alex he's huge with the geeks...he's funny and personable and G4 screwed that show up when they removed him and Kevin.

They canned Alex, Kevin got a lawyer to get him out of his contract a few months later when G4 destroyed the show and turned it from a tech based show to a video game based show that caters to 14 year olds.

The "Diggcast" was an early version of what became the Diggnation podcast. I think they just changed the name and abandoned the original "Diggcast" feed.
Kevin Rose who is on Diggnation, is also on TWIT sometimes. The Twit podcast has over 100,000 downloads per episode. It's not at all surprising to me that they suddenly leap into the top 10.
He is also involved in 2 other video productions/videopodcasts - 1 called "Systm" (not a misspelling) and the other one which he hasnt done anything with in a while called "The Broken".
Note to podcasters: ANYONE can submit a link or story on Digg.com, and the web site gets amazing traffic. I have seen many podcast announcements made on this site, but if your show doesn't appeal to techies, or isnt incredibly funny, or have some other type of appeal to intelligent tech-minded people, then it probably wont be voted to the front page of the site that gets the most traffic.

I'm officially addicted to Digg.com now and the podcast isn't bad either. They cracked me up asking the ABC crew to get them a beer on their show the other night.

I love Digg.com. It's a great site to gether news bits, but, IMO, Diggnation doesn't thrill me. It's just two guys reading top digg stories while drinking, calling each other dude and talking about how great they are.
These two guys do a video cast called Systm that rocks and I set my expectation of Diggnation by Systm. My expectations weren't realized after listening to a number of Diggnation podcasts. It was a real let down. Personally I like Kevin Rose, but the other guy, Alex, has a voice that grates the nerves.
I know these two guys have some talent and I think they need to put forth a bit more effort in their Diggnation podcast before it's worthy of a top spot in iTunes.

After listening to several podcasts I had to unsubscribe, they didn't talk about anything tech related, just how they were getting drunk at the time, or being drunk during the last podcast. NOT worth listening to every again!

Definately one of the best concept websites out there. Firstly, an awesome concept for news blogging and the podcast enables me to keep up even when stuck on mobile phone surfing. Thanks guys for the entertaining and informative podcast! Frankie
