View Full Version : Anyone made a "subscribe in iTunes" image for thei

I know you can cupy the iTunes music store link from iTunes. This will allow you to make a link on your page that will open iTunes.
Has anyone made or seen a graphic for this? I know that there are sort of generally accepted "podcast" graphics that some people have used and other people appropriated for their own sites.
It would be cool to attempt to standardize some of these graphics so people would know what they're clicking on.

Nice!. Exactly what I was wondering about.
I guess we should all prepare for a call from Apple's Lawyers. But until that happens, this is an awesome graphic!
Thanks.

Always glad to help others when I can.
Hopefully they won't be too bummed about it since it's being used to drive traffic to them.

Oh noes! I can't make up my mind! :P
Though I don't like the purple graphic Apple went with, I think it's good to keep with their style so it's immediately recognizable by people in the know.

Thanks CC, that is the size I was looking for... I was using the chicklet from podcast411, which I kind of like as well, it has that 'RSS' feel...

I've made two in the standard size. You're welcome to steal either or both but please copy them to your own server:
http://www.godcast.org/images/itunes.gif
http://www.godcast.org/images/itunes1click.gif
The colors in the second one are an exact match for the colors in Apple's iPod silhouette ads and are designed to appeal to both genders. Also, here's code that adds a tooltip when you hover over the image:
http://www.mysite.com/images/itunes1click.gif (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=________)
To get the URL for your podcast right click (Control-click on the Mac) on the name of your podcast in its info page in the iTunes Music Store and select the "Copy Music Store URL" option (or whatever it's called).

Craig, I think I'm going to steal your chicklet with the little pod guy.
Here's the chicklet I created based on the Feedburner chicklet for my solipsisticNATION show:

I'm willing to create one with the colors needed for those who want one.

I can't believe I can't figure this out... but how do you figure out the id of a podcast in order to create the *link* behind the graphic?

Awesome job! I liked the second one so much I downloaded it for use on my podcast's webpage! I prefer the "1 click" verbage to the iTunes graphics because it encourages people to use iTunes to subscribe since its easier to subscribe that way.
Thanks!

I need a button that was the standard 80 pixels wide, but a bit taller than the usual 15 pixels ('cause iTunes is special or something):

Hi everyone:Courtesy of Dr. Soos of http://www.fantasysacs.com which I also use on our site (and a custom XML one I made as well)
http://homepage.mac.com/drsoos/images/itunes-button.jpgI know I'm already listed on iTunes (Thank you FeedBurner :D :D ) so I saved both the graphic you made Mr. X (I'm assuming that's you posting BTW) as well as the one C.C. Chapman made. Both great clipart. :)
Now all I gotta do is (somehow!) find myself on iTunes and post the link (that's gonna be a daunting task if they don't have a directory  ).
Anyhow, on an unrelated note, Mr. X, did you get my submission to PodcastOutlaws? I sent it in about a week ago now. Just wonderin' dude (Hadn't heard anything back yet). :)
Cheers for now http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/ernaehrung/food-smiley-004.gif

Thanks Craig. Credit to you on my blog. (sorry for reviving the dead thread)
Hey Pat, in answer to your question about you show being on PodcastOutlaws.com, it was added the site a few days ago. If you scroll down the page you'll see it was listed. I'm an outlaw along with X and the others so when I saw your post I had to check that and yep, you're there. BTW, great Itunes buttons everyone! I used the one from X's site but there are lots of great submissions.

Thanks, guys! Great stuff, I've used a pair of these, both for my home page and for my podcast archive page. And, the URL link is great.
Again, thanks!

Ok here ya go:
Step 1. Go to the podcast directory in iTunes
Step 2. Find your podcast
Step 3. Click on the little gray arrow next to the name of your podcast in the listings to bring up your show's "page" in the iTunes Music Store
Step 4. Right click/command click on the image used in your show's page and choose "Copy iTunes Music Store URL" and then the link to your show, including ID, will be copied to the clipboard.
Step 5. Paste the link into the html for your show's webpage and tada you are finished!
For example mine is http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73799229. If you click on it it will take you to my show's iTMS page. Be sure to test yours out to make you've copied the right one, but that should be all there is to it!

I'm not sure if it's a Mac-only thing, but I've found that you can also right-click the podcast's name or listing just about anywhere it appears to bring up the "Copy iTunes Music Store URL" option. So you can skip the bit about finding the podcast's graphic (although right-clicking that works too, of course).
That means the steps can be cut down to:
Step 1: Navigate the iTunes music store to any place you can see the podcast (eg. search for it by name).
Step 2: Right-click on the podcast's listing, name, or picture, and select "Copy iTunes Music Store URL" from the pop-up menu.
Step 3: Subscribe to the Monster Feet Variety Show and sing its praises far and wide.
(Please note that steps 1 and 2 are optional.)

True, but CAUTION: while your technique does bring up the "Copy iTunes Music Store URL" every time, it does not neccesarily copy the proper url each time!!
For example, searching for dogs in the iTMS Podcast directory brings up a listing that includes K9Cast (http://www.k9cast.com) (at #2 relevancy!). Right clicking on the listing there, but not the picture or link at the top, and choosing to "Copy iTunes Music Store URL" brings up a url that looks like this http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=73799229&selectedItemId=73799229 which does not work!
While it's true that there are more then once place to click, I wanted to specify a specific location for the tutorial so that we could insure that podcasters did not experience this problem :)
Step 3: Subscribe to the Monster Feet Variety Show and sing its praises far and wide.
(Please note that steps 1 and 2 are optional.)
Hah! Ok I'm going to check it out.

What great stuff you guys did on the subscribe buttons for Itunes!
Here's a question. I am wondering if there is a way (if you're not yet in the Itunes directory) to make the one click subscribe method work.
I know you can manually add an RSS into a copy of Itunes on your desktop. Is there code to make this "manual method" occur automatically? Hopefully, I'll be listed there soon but thought I ask for the interim.
Thanks!

Drat--I was *trying* to cause problems. I'm a trouble maker (licensed Trouble Mfg., actually). Now I'm going to be under quota for the month because I have been foiled. Foiled! Clearly you're a foiler.
Or, you know, maybe you were right. Um ... naw, I'm going with the foil one.

heh I hear you.
A little late to the party, but I just made these last night, these are more for people who are doing enhanced podcasts instead of just a button for subscribing in iTunes period. I stole the idea from the way Mommycast (http://www.mommycast.com) does theirs.
Download em for your own use or click em to subscribe to K9Cast (http://www.k9cast.com), haha :) As long as you download em for your own use http://www.celerityfm.com/images/kosherbadge.png with me!

Also, a little offtopic, but I made this sweet button for OPML shownotes, and yes it's clickable too :P -
