Hey guys I just noticed the presence of a new web browser agent called AppleSyndication/38 in my log files-- it looks like this

69.xx.xx.xxx - - [30/Jun/2005:12:04:04 -0400] "GET /k9cast.xml HTTP/1.1" 200 15206 www.k9cast.com "-" "AppleSyndication/38" "-"

FREAKY! I guess this is people who have subscribed to my feed in iTunes 4.9? Because I've also got iTunes 4.9 user agents showing up too like this:

70.xx.xx.xxx - - [30/Jun/2005:00:19:47 -0400] "GET /k9cast.xml HTTP/1.1" 200 11607 www.k9cast.com "-" "iTunes/4.9 (Windows; N)" "-"

So I wonder what the difference is? Any ideas?

I'm still desperately searching my referrer log for the phobos.apple.com hits indicating my inclusion in the podcast directory. Still no dice except from the time that I submitted the cast originally...

Word is...

Apple isn't adding anything more to the directory for a while. At least until they fix some internal issues to the directory and the system.

I'm in the same boat, so lets hope it comes fast.

Any clue on what "awhile" is?

I'll have to ask if I can say where that came from. Sorry to be tepid, but it is a pretty reliable source.

And, I have no clue on 'awhile'... That was completely non-committal.
