View Full Version : Call me stupid, but I need help with my iTunes feed

Here is the deal. I have submitted my feed to apple 4 times now, starting yesterday morning, each time it tells me it will be up soon. But its NEVER up there. And I have no idea why.

My question is this: Is there something I need to do to my feed to make it ready and willing for iTunes? Can someone shed some light on that for me?

I'm just going to take a wild guess. I'm thinking that Apple is holding all of the new submissions until they can get the current hiccups worked out. That way, they only have to mess with 1000 feeds rather than 6000. Once they get everything sorted out, the new submissions will magically appear.

Again, just a guess. I'm also guessing that it will only be a matter of a day or so (or less)

is anyone else having this problem? I have not seen any other podcasters complain. I put mine up right after the launch.

There's been exactly 816 podcasts in the "audioblogs" section (the catch-all) all day. I find that hard to believe if they're pushing submissions through. BTW, if the itunes tags aren't exactly right, that's the category where you end up.

I updated the ESAS feed with the new tags (thanks to the nifty PCA feed!! copy and paste rules!) and its still listed in audio blog.

I think iTunes is in a "freeze" so so speak right now.

And, as always, pulling guesses outta my arse.

That would explain a few things. *KIDDING!*

I hadn't thought about taking PCA's iTunes feed and copying it out to create my own.

Does it double the entries? That is, are there iTunes tags as well as tags that other "real" podcasting clients understand? I'm trying to get away from relying on outside sources to manage my feeds form now on.

It's kind of dumb, actually. I show up in iTunes twice. once from the XML file on my server and once from my feedburner feed. Gotta find a way to fix that.

It does duplicate the tags, but feedburner didn't have a problem with that, and its still going into ipodder just fine.

One thing to note, I don't know yet if it helped my iTunes listing. The changes haven't been reflected in iTunes yet (like the image, category, author, etc..) So, use my advice at your own risk.

I'm not in apple's db and i'm really taking it way too personally. I should go out and get some air.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but that wasn't the case for me. I was in the right category before even touching the tags.
