Behind the Scenes (http://www.btscast.com) #17 is up and features some tips on how to make an inexpensive podcasting setup sound as good as possible. If you've missed the last two BTS shows, I'm switching to a "Guerilla" podcasting format for the show that ditches all the expensive equipment and software plugins in exchange for an iRiver (as low as $60 now), a cheap mic ($15 headset or $25 lav), and minimal post-production. Why? Because price shouldn't be a barrier to entry and neither should it be a barrier to quality. Check out the show and see (hear) what I mean.

Hey, thanks, Craig!
That's really helpful to those of us with seriously limited budgets. Great idea for a show!

I must agree - GREAT show Craig! I can tell you that I spent last week picking the brain of our chief audio tech on our main stage (I'm in the conference business) and his one golden nugget of advice - he said above all others - is proper mic placement. His advice when using a table top mic was to position it above your mouth pointing towards your chin, because not only can you cause a plosive with your Ts & Ps - but also you can blast the mic with a good exhale through your nose! If the mic is above your breath path, you are good to go.

Great advice to get the very most out of your gear - at no additional cost.
