We have "street teams" that go to local bars and promote Creative Loafing events and take pictures for posting on our website. We want to add an audio component to that we can post on the site as an audio file and eventually use in Podcasts. What product would best suit our nees?'.

One of the irivers. Just search this topic. there are about a hundred references to it. It's about all anyone uses for your type of situation. good luck!

I agree, I use the Iriver IFP-795. This one is 512MB which is a good deal of space. I also use the Griffin lav mike and clip it to my shirt.

Thanks. I'm getting the iRiver. I've seen some posts that say an extranal Microphone is needed. Is that true? If it is true what external microphone would you recommened? Our Streetteam folks will be in noisy bars so we would like to keep the size of the equipment small.

Here is a picture of our mobile setup-

a 3-4 way splitter for the mic input would give 2 guys each a set of headphones and a mic- plus 1 or 2 other mics for guests to use.

Happy hunting

I heard that the 899 has more accomodating jacks that are located on the side for wider jacks to fit snugly into the line in.

for i mic, i'd go with the AT822 (so sweet)
or AT Pro24 (sweet value)

I think we are going to purchase the IFP-1095. I haven't seen any posts about those devices. I want to get that one to cut down on the amount of stuff he has to carry. With this device he could take the photos and do the recording. Any one have comments on the IFP-1095?

I just found out from iRiver that you can't connect an external MIC to this series of iRivers. I won't be getting this one.
