View Full Version : How Many Top 10'ers Do You Listen To?

With all this discussion and arguments about who should be allowed and what should be allowed on PCA's top 10, I took a moment to go back and look at the current top 10.

I listen to around 20 podcasts regularly. NONE of the podcasts I subscribe to are in the current top 10. So, I guess I'd have to say, as a podcast listener, the Top 10 is amusing, but it hasn't influenced my listening/subscription choices.

How about you guys? How many of the top 10 do you guys listen to? You don't even have to name names. I'm just curious.

I listen to Coverville and Catholic Insider.

Also, I don't listen to them, but I voted for The Big Seminar 10,000 gagillion times.

I listen to 3 currently in the top 10: This Week in Tech, Catholic Insider, and Keith and the Girl.

I can't bring myself to listen to The Big Seminar after reading the description, it reminds me of an infomercial on television.

I listen to TwiT, MacCast, occasionally FTL, and unfortunately (due to the flame wars this past week - of which I was a part) also IMR.

One for me - Keith And The Girl - and I probably listen to the equivalent of one of their shows for every five downloads.. in other words, while they never hesitate to make me laugh - other podcasts not in the top 10 usually rank higher on my priority list...

Even though you don't subscribe to any top 10'ers...how many podcasts that have been in the top 10 have you listened to at least once while they were in the top 10?

If you had a few thousand extra people who listened to you once because you were in the top 10, don't you think you'd be able to retain at least a few of them?

I think that's the point of wanting to be in the top 10 - getting that sort of exposure. Dawn and Drew is the only top 10 podcast that I listen to semi-regularly, but I've listened to every other top 10 podcast at least once.

Wow. Good question and point, Ferg. I've listened to two that are now in the top ten and hated them both. But for that day, they each got my download. I wish I had both the download, and the time I spent listening to them back.

Big Seminar!

Just kidding!

Seriously though, I barely have time to listen to my own show. I'm about 3 months behind at the moment.

I listen to 4 of them, but I am a podcast slut. I primarily work from home and have audio going most of the time. A lot of podcasts and music from my jukebox. Almost never watch TV.

TWiT, Earthcore, Catholic Insider, and Tartan.

Interesting thing is that about 20% of the podcasts I subscribe, including some that are must listen to, are not in the PCA directory.

I only listen to Coverville from the Top 10 - most the other shows I listen to are not big here or in the charts.

Yeah I don't listen to any of the popular ones. I actually just found this new sports show that's awesome. Check it out it's called NBX sport's show

I don't listen to any of the top 10 either, though occassionally I will listen to Coverville. In the 11 - 20 category, I listen to ony Bitterest Pill and PK&J.

I love AirFerg though, but the shows are much better when there is MORE SHELLY, man!

Well, of the current top ten I only listen to one...Earthcore!!! Now that is a story that will really grab you. I can't recommend it enough. I crawl into bed at night with the headphones and ipod and a few times it has really scared the crap out of me....I had to turn on the light. Great stuff!
