I am surprised how few porn/adult podcasts there are.
Violet Blue's open source sex is a top rated podcast, even though sh has not posted anything in almost 3 weeks.
I got some numbers from Cameron Reilly's first ever podcast survey:
http://reilly.typepad.com/cameronreilly/2005/03/the_worlds_firs_1.html
1. 94% of podcast listener are male
2. 78% of them are between 26 and 50 years old (45% = 26-35, 34% = 36-50)
3. 72% listen on a personal player (ipod, phone, iriver, etc)
4. 36% have an income of < 100k US$
Based on that porn should do rather well.
Well, I have started a porn podcast. Please provide feedback and fill out the survey to make it better:

I'm not sure how attractive this would be to anyone unless they're into 900 numbers and text file porn.

"she gets on all fours and takes it up the ***"

There'd be a huge subscription base for porn vidCasts. In the future (not too far up the road) there's going to be plenty of vidCasts out there. Porn probably will have a lot of show subscriptions...

Any worthwhile new technology usually picks up speed when it is used for porn or gambling, I am sure podcasting will be used for both...

you mentioned two of the biggest businesses, the third (religion) is already far along the road in podcasting...so i guess the other two will do well also...

There's a podcasting site that's been up for months doing some "porn" style podcasts, mostly erotic stories.
They also have the highly sought after "Pat O'Brien" tapes, the dirty voicemails left by the "Access Hollywood" announcer.
The site is http://www.pod-porn.com

Another route of course is people TALKING about sex vs. just audio porn.
Although they don't put out a lot of shows, I'm a fan of the Sex Geeks:

You aren't offending me at all.
I would seriously doubt the accuracy of your stats though. I mean you have to survey such a broad group of people from all over the world to really get a pulse. And you know how much people lie on surveys. I think porn podcasts are already here and here to stay. As long as the internet is involved a bit of porn is bound to come through the cracks!

Absolutely. I expect that porn will be very big for the video ipod, regardless of what a handful of ppl in the adult industry have said. This could be a potentially toublesome area in the US and UK due to current political culture. The Eastern European nations will fill any void quickly as they have done with tgp gallery producers, cj's, etc.
My wife and I have been in the adult biz for several years, and we are certainly planning on doing not just a mature-audience talk show, but also at least one weekly erotica show.
This does bring to mind a point. Stories are probably best marketed as Erotica, not Porn, even if the stories have sexy sounds. There is a huge, difficult to tap, market of potential Female listeners / customers. Free Porn is so prevelant on the net that conversion ratios (people who go to the sponsor program to people who sign up under your referal code) of 1000:1 or even 2000:1 are not unheard of; it would be very difficult to target that market and make a good profit. However, selling toys and other Erotica products to women and couples will enjoy a much higher conversion ratio. Women tend to go more for stories than 'on her knees up the ____' video closeups. Make it tasteful and they will come.

I have an idea for a porn audio podcast that might appeal to a male audience: Get some of the top sportcasters to do play-by-play color commentary of the scenes. Throw in a studio audience, and the right sound effects, and you've got a hit!
Make it tasteful and they will come.
Was that meant to be a double entedre?

The internet is for porn --sung to the tune of whatever that song was.
