just got an iriver 780 and a reporter mic from reactivesounds.com ,tryied recording some voice samples with the reporter mic and then with the internal mic and guess what. the internal mic sound quality blows the reporter mic away. The volume for the reporter mic sounds really low compared to the internal mic. My question is what am i doing wrong? I find it hard to believe that that little pinhole internal mic is better.
i have my settings at 44khz and 64 kbps for both.
can somebody tell me it there is anything i can do to increase the sound quality of the external mic.

Have you set the "line in" option to "external mic" and have you adjusted your recording levels? Also, does your reporter mic need a battery to operate and have you installed a good one?

You may have done these things.... The internal iRiver mic is decent, but you should easily be able to exceed it's quality with an external mic.
