Ok, I am very, very new to pod casting in general. Our group has been working for several weeks now ironing out some of the recording technical details, with mixed success. Which brings me to my question, we know we have to create a show website and post our shows there, but how? This is the way we understand it, please correct me if I’m wrong.
1. Obtain a domain name for the show via Yahoo, Google whoever. Are we able to purchase a domain name from Libsyn?
2. Obtain web hosting space for the show; this is where we are considering using Libsyn’s service.
3. Obtain space to “store our show files so that people can download our shows.
OR, is it something like this.
1. Obtain domain name.
2. Obtain hosting space for our show website AND uploading/storage of our show files.
Also, once I purchase a show domain name from another service (If Libsyn doesn’t sell them) how do you associate your domain name with Libsyn’s hosting space? I’m sure these are very easy questions to answer for you web savvy developers out there but I want to make sure we do this correctly before we start subscribing to services, wasting money and doing it all the wrong way. Please advise. Thank you.

I don't use Libsyn, but assuming they work like most hosts...
You should be able to purchase a domain name anywhere. GoDaddy is cheap. I've used DirectNic in the past, and I stick with them cause I've had a good experience, and I want to keep all of my names under one account.
Once you have your domain, you can sign up for hosting. Whoever's providing your hosting (libsyn or whatever) will provide you with the ip addresses of their DNS servers. You then goto the place you registered your domain name, and plug in these server addresses. This can typically be done online.
You then need to inform your host to direct your name to your space on their servers.
The host will provide you, typically, FTP access to your hosting. You'll place your site and your files there.

It's my understanding that with a service like LibSyn, all you have to do is sign up. They provide the space and a subdomain such as yourshow.libsyn.com. You only have to purchase a domain name if you want yourshow.com.
Check LibSyn's site to verify this.

With Libsyn they will supply you with everything you need to host your show. If you want your own domain name you can purchase one from someone like godaddy.com and for a $5 one time fee Libsyn will set it up so your domain name points to your blog page on their service.
If you go to Libsyn and look thru the FAQ section of the forum they address some of your questions.

06.04.05 #19 Save SG, inc.!
This is a quick announcement about the dumping of sg, inc. from bigfishhosting.net. We're in trouble! In 72 hours my account will be terminated all because of nipples. That's right. Nipples. Apparently they didn't realize that sg, inc. was adult in nature until too late. I need help! Ideas, comments and suggestions are all very welcome, but you better email them to me just in case they decide to terminate me prematurely.
More show later. Just wanted to get the word out there since I have precious little time.

Save SG, inc.!
Download the MP3 here!
(this little announcement is just that--little--Weighing in at 3 minutes and 44 seconds.)
Shout outs, show notes, ephemera:
--This is the gratuitous bigfishhosting.net cleavage shot, featured on their home page.
Apparently, boobies are fine, it's just nipples that aren't. Bigfishhosting hates my nipples. Well they hate you right back!
Way to make a splash in the podcasting world.
And Frankly 80Gigs Xfer for 40bucks is weak sauce.

I would suggest dreamhost.com, they are a great option for new people and you can be sure the site will always be up, unlike some of the other services out there. If you enter the code PodCast10, you can get $10 off.
