View Full Version : "Behind the Scenes" being held for ransom

What?! Yes, I've got two great shows ready to edit at the moment, one recorded at the last San Diego Podcasters Meetup and another revealing interview with Dave Miller of The Miller Report. However, Behind the Scenes currently has between 3,000 and 5,000 listeners per show and less than 50 votes per month at Podcast Alley. So, since asking nicely and begging for votes doesn't work I am resorting to kidnapping/blackmail. Take a few seconds to vote for Behind the Scenes at the link below and I will release the shows unharmed as soon as we make it back into the top 50. Do NOT attempt to contact the authorities.

Is this popularity contest that important to you that you alter your show releases? Wow!

(The sense of humor detector is strangely silent.)

Sorry Craig, it's silent for a reason.

Unless you were joking in the first post...then turn that bad boy back on.

There's no shame in wanting some small recompence (even if that's a place in the top 50) for doing your show. If Craigy Poo has 3,000 listeners he should get some votes and especially if those listeners learn things from his show. The least they can do is click their mouse button a few times.

Well I guess I must humbly disagree.

Why?

For the exact opposite reason you advocate the voting system. Producing a quality podcast shouldn't be dumbed down to lobbying for votes.

We're not running for office here...what exactly do these votes prove? You can have your name on the frontpage?

Like I said, this is just my opinion...you ask, you receive.

You have already voted for this podcast this month.
Please vote again next month.

Better read that thread from Free Talk Live.

... it really goes to show you how much of a joke the voting really is...
If you would have voted at midnight on May 1, you would have hit the top 10! I voted for BTS on the 2nd.

If you don't release those poor shows soon, we may have to hold ASCII Janet for ransom.

Craig - I'm more interested who you would hold to ransom...

So I withold my vote to see the merriment ensue....

Heck, you can have her, Ed. All she does is sit around the house, watching NASCAR, eating freeze-dried astronaut ice cream and telling all the other robots to "Shut it."

Sorry Craig, Your posts are usually good and informed, but this one's just lame.

Move on people, nothing to see.

Well, it worked for me. I just plain forgot, and you reminded me. I went and voted. Now, if you'll all go and vote for "Israelisms" http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_detail.php?pod_id=1806
then I'll be really grateful, too.

But in either case, we're posting a new show tomorrow anyway.

Man, some people in here need to switch to decaf, shut down their computers, and go get some fresh air...of course it was all in good fun! And both podcasts have been released unharmed. (I just posted the second.)

P.S. All those without a sense of humor, please drop "Behind the Scenes" from your subscription list immediately and add Free Talk Radio.

*is not a podcaster and therefore is turned off by the description of Behind the Scenes*

I'm thinking of selling my vote to the highest bidder. Who's offering?

LOL that made me laugh...

I like the idea of selling votes tho. Who wants mine? A free iPod gets mine for life :P
