View Full Version : Podcast Radio Show #1?

May 1st, 2005, 05:01 AM
Is there a scam going on here? I've never even heard of that show and didn't see it even in the top 50 last month and now it's number 1? Half of the shows on there look new to my eyes. Well glad to see a show about how to market podcasting is now number #1 amoungst people who try podcasting to hear something without all the marketing. No controversy here.....

Guess what?

People, in general, don't like Dawn and Drew as much as you think. And, now that it zero's out each month, they can all let you know.

Which, is what worries me about the whole... 'Adam Currey and Such had the P'cast alley folks up to 'talk about the ranking system'...

Yea, sounds a little mafia to me. Free Talk Live, BTW, has been around for a long time, and is an ACTUAL radio show that puts it's stuff out on podcasts, so they have a built in audience.

I've only listened to a couple myself, I get enough of the talk politics call-in radio shows... that's ALL that you get other than typical radio these days. Kind of what I DON'T want to hear on podcasts. But... the question seemed to beg as to why one of the 'inside groupie' shows didn't get up top.

I think most of those 'top 10' shows are more noise than number, when it comes to fanbase.

We were in the top ten in March, and even #1 at one point. In April, we dropped the ball, and didn't take this site seriously.

Now, we're pushing for votes, just like everyone.. I think of the start of the month like horses leaving the gate in a race. It will settle out in a few days.

We aren't pushing for a **** thing this time... it already shows. Who knows what we'll do in the next few podcasts.

No scam IMO. Just grass-roots (and smart grass-roots, like genius even) marketing as far as votes on this site go. Nothing wrong with that if you ask me.

Just wanted to say that I love your avatar, and the only thing I love more than Homestar Runner is Strongbad.

Thank you, and I love yours. Something about a little girl with a freeky look on her face is rather precious. It's the same kind of art that you could see when you watch the kid get killed by the pumpkin mask in Holloween 3. Oh what a classic that film is, but I digress...

After last night's ranting... I realized I stated a falsehood.

Even though I said that Free Talk Live isn't what I'm looking for in a podcast, because there is already too much political talk on the AM to fill up an elephants butt...

I still keep downloading and listening to it to spite the gods of Cox and Clearchannel.

So... sorry FTL guys... I listen to ya... :)

But, I stand by the statement that it's shows like FTL that AREN'T the reason I started to, and continue to only use podcasting as my ear-entertainment of choice. But, ya, for your fill of fun political/current event call-in fun... grab yourself some FTL and keep the radio off.

Thanks dcolanduno. That's quite a compliment. CC certainly doesn't always make the best business decisions. They canned my *** a couple of years ago, when they could have had a piece of my show. If they'd not done that, we might not be syndicated now. It's good to be on my own. Thanks CC!

Yea Ian,

I took my tour in Radio, was a host on three different shows...

TWO of them were Clearchannel owned... well, one of those two Clearchannel purchased the station out from under us.

After that, I went to a small Sports radio network for a while, then that was purchased by ESPN radio... which is the Clearchannel of sports radio.

<sigh>

So, I stopped dealing with the industry. I actually was lucky enough to have always done it as extra cash, or on the side.

But, man, I just couldn't stand how those CC people ran thier business.
