MythArc Radio #9 is a roundup of stories from the news of the past week.テつ* We began by talking about new Pope Benedict XVI, the former Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger.

We talked about a genetically modified strain of rice developed by Japanese scientists, a strain which includes human genetic material.テつ* From there we moved on to the recent gathering of the Trilateral Commission in Washington, D.C., a meeting that was address by United States Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and president-elect of the World Bank Paul Wolfowitz.

Significantly, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and many other Trilaterals, such as Henry Kissinger and David Rockefeller, are also members of the secretive Bilderberg Group, which appear to have set their 2005 meeting for Munich, probably the 5th through the 8th, or the 12th through the 15th.

Interestingly, President George W. Bush is planning a trip to central Europe for May 6-10, so he may well put in an appearance at the Bilderberg meeting if Munich is indeed the place.

We checked in on the world health situation again: The Marburg outbreak in Angola is either under control or months away from peaking, depending on which expert you ask. Sharon read an excerpt from a diary being kept by a nurse volunteering in Angola with "Doctors Without Borders".

In Vietnam, the H5N1 virus is changing, becoming less deadly but more easily spread.テつ* The case fatality rate is around 35%, which is down from 100% early on, but the Spanish flu killed over 50 million people in 1918 and 1919 with a case fatality rate of less than 5%.

Our big story:テつ* The discovery of Spanish flu genes in a strain of flu virus isolated from South Korean pigs last fall.テつ* The genetic sequence is identical to a strain created in a lab in London in 1940.テつ* The most likely explanations are a gross error at a laboratory, a bioweapon test, or a bioterror event that has yet to be reported.テつ* The World Health Organization's response so far looks like a cover-up.

Our movie recommendations of the week:

Signs (http://imdb.com/title/tt0286106/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnxteD0yMHxsbT01MDB8dHQ9b258ZmI9dXxwbj 0wfHE9U2lnbnN8aHRtbD0xfG5tPW9u;fc=1;ft=37;fm=1), starring Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix - A strong message of faith hidden in a story of alien invasion (hint: look at the doors in the farmhouse--the "aliens" aren't really extra-terrestrials).
Madison (http://madisonthemovie.com/), a new movie starring Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ), Mary McCormack (West Wing), and Bruce Dern - Based on a true story, set and filmed in Sharon's home town of Madison, Indiana. Madison also happens to be the model for Eden, Indiana, the setting for Sharon's first novel Winds of Evil (http://mytharc.com/banners.php?op=click&bid=1).
