Ok, I'm trying to setup Skype to do several things and I'm having a major problem doing this. I'm hoping that someone can help out with this. So, here's what I'm trying to do:

1. Conference call in 3 or more people
2. Record the conversation
3. Play drops while recording
4. While the drops are playing, everyone in conference can hear the drops
5. Ability to speak over the drops without hearing echoes, feedback etc.

I have a couple of friends who are working on the technical details so I don't know exactly what has been tried. But I do know we've come close. Using Skype, we've been able to conference call in 3 people. We've even been able to play drops with us all in conference; the problem is that at the others that are NOT playing the drops hear an echo, feedback etc. and we can't seem to figure out what the problem is. So, if someone has figured out how to do what I've listed above could you PLEASE post your specific setup with instructions. This is really becoming frustrating. Thank you.

hey man, i guess the fundamental question would be PC or Mac...becuase on a Mac that's totally possible...all except for the last thing, that's a bit of a Skype problem. There should be an option, however, for echo cancellation in the preferences, so try that, but anyways, Audio Hijack Pro and Soundflower can do that stuff, but only on a mac :(

let me know bro!

Hi there I'm one of the friends to which Scorpius refers. We are using PC's. We've tried almost every configuration you can think of, inlcuding using a second computer to play the sound bites/music that we want to make part of our conversations. No matter how we try, we still get the echo. For those of us using PC's, is there a work around? :?:

Not sure why there are multiple posts on this in different threads, but...

Check this link out. It goes through the process in some detail.

The link came from www.podcastbunker.com, which is a pretty good site.

Thanks for the info, but we've already viewed this link. It seems to address recording conversation over skype, but it does NOT address playing sound bites or drops, nor does it address the resulting echo when you do play sound bites. Perhaps we are missing something, which I won't rule out. Otherwise, we're still hoping for some help! :D

I find the whole Skyp-setup thing as written in that article to be really complex. IF you have a bit of money, you can use your computer for skype and record on something else and just have a mixer in-between the two controlling the flow. It's so much easier to setup and it's very flexible. If I want another drop or bite for both parties to hear? Just add it to another mixer channel and send it to both the computer-in for skype and the recorder in for recording... I've been using Skype in this way and set up took all of 15 minutes.

BUT that said, i'm sure it can be done the other way...

Bottom line, and I know I may be wrong here, it sounds like if you are really commited to using skype AND record on the same computer, it's not only complex but you also have to accept some compromises.
