So I put the Wimpy Player (http://www.wimpyplayer.com) on my site, to use their cool Flash widget to stream my podcast to site visitors. However, I ran into the same problem PodcastAlley did (http://www.podcastalley.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=902&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc) when it came to the "chipmunk effect." Basically, the core of Flash (it ain't Wimpy's fault) doesn't like sample rates below 44.1, among other peculiar preferences.
Checking my MP3s in iTunes, I see my shows' sample rate are at 24kHz. "Ah," I figured, "I must've missed a setting in Audacity and that's the default." So I figured I'd change that setting. Except I can't find it.
So, two questions:
1. When you're in MP3 land, how big a difference is there between 24kHz and 44.1kHz? Versus file size? Is there any way to quickly convert a 24kHz MP3 to a 44.1kHz one, or will that 'double lossy' process lead to disaster?
1. How does one set the export "sample rate" for an MP3 out of Audacity (Windows)? Under Preferences > Quality > High Quality Sample Rate Converter, I don't get a list of rates, but just "High Quality Sinc Interpolation" and "Fast Sinc Interpolation." In my project, it shows 44.1kHz, but for whatever reason what's coming out is 24kHz. Is this because of LAME? Is there a fix or a switch for that?
Mahalo!
