Has anyone thought of distributing their podcast as AAC? It provides one nice option since AAC files can be set to bookmarkable. Once set they show up under the Audiobooks menu and you can return to any podcast right where you left off.

This does limit your listeners to iTunes/iPod, so to cover your bases you'd probably want to provide two feeds, one in mp3 and one in AAC.

Comments? Suggestions?

Am I missing something here? I have a Creative mp3 player, and I can bookmark mp3 files just fine.

I, for one, have not sipped the Apple Kool-Aid (I drank Mr. Gates' version a long time ago) AAC would GREATLY limit those who don't listen to a show on an iPod, and in my view, THAT's where the listener growth will come from....non-podcasters.
For instance, most of my listeners end up listening at work on WMP, or MusicMatch.

AAC ain't where its at.

True, and that's why I would have to provide a mp3 feed and an aac feed. AAC is not proprietary, I'm actually surprised my iRiver plays OGGs but not AAC. Anyway, I was just wondering if the advantages of AAC (bookmarkable on iPods/iTunes, better quality) would be worth the effort.
