Wow, you actually ran over it? That's impressive. My mum only drove over it...not on purpose, it ran in front of the truck on the freeway...

This sounds really bad, but I've actually eaten roadkill turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. My grandpa was the one they called when there was an animal that got hit and had to be put down. One year some guy hit a turkey and grandpa put it down, took it home, cleaned it, and we had roadkill for thanksgiving!

That's funny...I thought I was the only one whose family fed them roadkill...

yaz

roadkill is popular south of the mason-dixon line...but i had no idea it was also eaten in the great white north, fortunately i never ran anything over that i was aware of and my mother drives to slow to run anything over, if there were a deer in front of her car as she drove she would prolly just push it along...now, if it got in front of the vacuum that thing would be toast...

Like I say, I think I'm the only one up here whose family fed them roadkill...some how this is conservation....if I ever see your mother and a vacuum, I'm skating away as fast as I can...

Roadkill is the perfect meat (as long as you're the one who hit it and it hasn't been lying by the road for who knows how long). You didn't shoot it so the anti-gun people can't get mad at you. You didn't hunt it so anti-hunting people can't get mad at you. It didn't come from a slaughterhouse so PETA can't get mad at you. About the only people who are going to get peeved are the vegetarians and the taxidermists. Plus as a bonus your car probably acts as a pretty good tenderizer.

most of them don't do it for health reasons, (which would be the most obvious choice) they do it to follow a trend or some crap...i have read alot that eating meat is bad for the body...

Apr 11th, 2005, 01:45 AM
I dunno...the inuit I've met all seemed pretty healthy, and they only eat meat....they don't get eating plants...

yaz
Apr 11th, 2005, 09:14 AM
yea, the reason the meat most of us eat is bad for you is because of where it comes from, a balanced diet is good, but the crap that's in the meat we eat is what is bad, hormones and all the crap they give the animals to grow quicker and survive the conditions they have to live in...

Well, I don't know about that, but I do know the fat from those cheeseburgers you like so much will take five years to exit your system, if you stop eating them now.

That said, pleae send any and all uneaten cheeseburgers to:

(What can I say? I'm a sucker for cheeseburgers. And roadkill. Hmmm... Roadkill cheeseburgers anyone?)

SOUTHERN FRIED VEGAN

1 frying vegan, skin removed if you
want lower fat. I leave the skin on.
3 teaspoons Lawry's Seasoned Salt
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup vegetable oil

1. Season vegan with all seasonings.
2. Roll vegan in flour until covered. Shake off
excess flour. Sprinkle additional seasoning.
3. Simply fry vegan in frying pan until golden
brown. I like it crispy so I cook it a little longer
than most.

You can start out with the oil very hot and then
reduce it later. This seals in the moisture and
flavor, then cooks it.

Vegans... why do they taste like chicken?
