What is Adobe Audition like? Does anyone here use it? I have heard some good things about it, but i was curios of some of your opinions.

That's kind of an open-ended question. What do you want to do with it? Just produce a podcast? What kind of podcast? What kind of content? Recorded live? Etc. The more details you can provide the better the answer we can give.

It is just like the screenshots look.

I think it is a great program. I have been using it forever (back when it was Cool Edit) and it is great. Easy to use but still has advanced features. Pretty standard piece of software. Everyone knows about it so knowing how to use it is a good idea. Includes multi-track functionality, which is great.

But unless you are going to do some major editing/producing for your podcast, you probably don't need all that it has.

I use Cool Edit Pro and have since I worked with it at a radio station. It's VERY respected in the industry and known as a versitile program that can do just about anything you would need. As PDA Dave pointed out, it's not called Adobe Audition.

But, to be honest, I've taken Audacity around the block a few times and I like what they're offering. It's probably enough for 98% of the podcasters out there (myself included). I simply use Cool Edit cause I'm used to it, not cause I need it's extra functionality.

I've always used Cool Edit and now Audition but until podcasting I've always done my mixing work on my hard-disk recorder so I only used Audition as a platform for a mastering DX plug-in that I like for two-track finishing.

Lately I've been using more of the features on Audition and think it's great - easy to work with, robust, etc... but I dont' really have much to compare it with. I looked at the features of Audacity and really does seem like you get close for free....

I have to chime in on the pro side of Adobe Audition. I use it religiously for Insomnia Radio. It has never crashed (whether I'm doing a one hour live show or a 24 track mix), is extremely user-friendly, and has every dream feature imaginable.

The price tag is steep, but worth every penny.

yea, we've messed around with adobe audition to make stupid little bits for our show and its pretty simple to use (if you're doing something basic), i can even kinda figure it out, it does look like it can get complicated tho, but we use audacity to record our show...

We use "Cool Edit" for all our stuff. Works great and has many effects that we use all the time. I have also used sound forge... Sony makes it now. That is a good alternative that is a little cheaper.

I started with it was Cool Edit Pro. One of the things I always liked about CEP is that it is very intuitive. Within an hour, I had mastered the recording and editing functions. And a few days later, I had the "effects" features fine tuned to my liking. Bottom line: I love it, and highly recommend it as the software to drive any podcasting "big rig".

I used it all the time in my PC days...but I am ticked that they don't have a version for my Mac. Any idea of Adobe is considering such a thing?

I use it to do my show with, and make it real easy. The interface is kind of intimidating at first, but you quickly get used to it.

Adobe has a free 30 day full functional trial if you want to get your feet wet.

I would expect Adobe to be working on such a thing as many of their other products are mac friendly.

Like was already said, expect it to be in the works. If you are looking for a good audio editor/recorder, and aren't using Audacity ( I can't stand this one) you might take a look at Peak 4. I'm not sure if we can expect more versions from it, but I really like it and have been using it to produce our podcast lately.

I'm an old Sound Forge user. 8)
