Do you know of podcasts that are great to listen to, but are family/work safe? Maybe you could help some of us "choosy" listeners. I would like to find more of 'em.
I like Illinoise and Behind the Scenes a lot. What do you like or recommend?

Although I said "***" twice in our last podcast, we try to keep it very family/work safe. It might be a little too geeky though.

Not. You're obviously going to want to research some of these "recommendations" before you roll them out in front of company.
Apparently, however, this means that MK is giving approval for Godcasters to trick him into listening to religious programming, so that's good news.

Though someone has already mentioned, I figured it's worth giving a double endorsement to The Bitterest Pill. A fabulous show that is intentionally family friendly.

hey! listen to our show at work (especially if your boss is religious or gay or a midget or hispanic or any other kind of person that might be offended) if you want to get fired...and definitely don't let kids hear bibb's voice, they might mistake him for michael jackson and want to go to his ranch...

Free Talk Live is only family safe for people who aren't puritans. If you encourage critical thinking and openness, FTL is for your family. If not, stay away.
FTL only work safe in workplaces where managment is cool, or you are the management.
Use with caution.

Mine is pretty family friendly. I told a poop story but other than that...nothing to harsh.

I was going to write that we are pretty much worksafe...but Jayson beat me to it. :)
BTW, Allthewhile's show is both work and family safe. As is Fr. Roderick's show.

While somebody else pointed out that everything on The GodCast Network is work/family safe, I should add that for those of you who aren't into our spiritual fare that also includes The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd, a comedy aimed at kids 8-80, and Behind the Scenes, a drama aimed at podcasters of all ages.

Well, thanks for all the tips so far, I'm beginning to listen to a bunch of new podcasts (as I am able).
I also love "The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd" -- VERY creative and fun. Wow those guys are good at what they do!
Keep 'em coming!

Anything I put out as a godcast, yes, but the term has been hijacked by others and these days you can't take anything for granted. :(

The Richard Vobes Radio show is work and family safe and a lot of fun to listen to!!
Also, the Audio Collective and The Ponderplace Podcast are mostly work safe... or at least they try to be.
It is great to have some good clean fun!

Just because someone calls themself a Christian doesn't mean you'd trust your kids with them. Same difference....titles and actions are two different things.

yea, my i assumed (yea i know) that if it were a godcast it would be sending out a "good" message...and no, i wouldn't trust anyone with my kids (if i had any)...especially christians...no offense...because the christians around here just like to give themselves the title, down deep they're still mostly *****les...

I freely admit that, at the outset, we were a little loose with the language simply because we could be. I don't think there's anything wrong with that - we were just being ourselves.
However, since then, we've really focused more on the show and the subject matter. Things aren't excessively "planned out", but they are a bit more organized, and, for some reason, as a result, there seems to be much less swearing. I don't think there was any in our last cast.
Listening to the shows as the cursing has been curtailed, I've decided I like it better. I'm not sure what it is.
As for being family friendly, I think we'll have shows that are family friendly or work-safe, but I can't commit to it, simply because we may have a story that's just too funny to tell that doesn't fit what most parents consider appropriate for their children.
I'm rambling, but my main point is this...
Chances are that if you swear less, the podcast will sound better. I'm not basing this on any moral standard or what have you, I just think it's true.

Until my last show when I suddenly dropped the f-bomb twice for NO reason http://www.accidenthash.com is traditionally work safe.
The Bitterest Pill is easily the funniest work safe podcast I've found so far.
Useful Sounds is great to listen to anytime.
The M show is short and always good.
And finally if your into filmmaking at all or curious to learn more you can't go wrong with The Martini Shot

tell you the truth, i think that most of you people at work should be working and not downloading podcasts, i guess working in an office is like a vacation where you can do a little work (i've heard about 2 hours out of an 8 hour day is about the time spent working) and **** around the rest of the time...
we curse on our show, but i don't think that's the worst part, and if you can't figure it out, im not gonna tell you...
and kids shouldn't be on pc's, then they get abducted by someone they met in a chat room and its that person's fault, parents should monitor what is downloaded and then let the kids listen to it...geez, some adults can't handle what we say...

Please don't change the show... It is great as-is.. and what is Airferg without a few douche jokes?

well, I'm still finding new shows, but I think these two are pretty safe:
Late Night with Mr. X and Just Julie (though, if you're shy about 2 yr. olds pooping in the tub, keep the volume low. Or use headphones.)
And of course, my show is fairly safe: The Martini Shot - all about filmmaking and the movies, for those who really don't know much about how movies are made.
Well, i have dropped an 's'-bomb every so often, but I keep it fairly clean.

We're not planning on changing the show. There's always room for douche. I guess what I meant was that there will occasionally be topics that are inherently more family-friendly than others.

Tom Corven is a novel set in the Highlands of Scotland about a young boy who wakes up in the wilderness and discovers that he is an unusual boy in an unusual situation. It's family safe and suitable for ages from 12 to ...... the end.

Hometown Tales is pretty much work/family safe.
I think we used "sh*t" the first podcast but that was just because we could and admitted that.
Just strange tales and stories from all over.

Amen Ferg, there is definitely always room for douche! If douche conversations weren't family friendly, the whole room may not have that "fresh feeling"!

Our show is family and work safe.... if you don't have kids and work where I do (pc gaming hardware company). So I guess it's all about what you consider "family" and "safe".... For me, I'm enjoying the natural freedom of expression allowed by this medium, but I can certainly see how some people would want swear-free, innocuous discussions.
Personally, I can't work and listen to talk podcasting at the same time! There must be some talented people out there! Either that or they are not working when they are listening.
****, this is fun.

I'm a family-friendly audio book producer, publisher and podcaster. I am about to release a family-friendly podcast directory that also acts as a podcast, so you can sample one of each of the submitted podcasts and then subscribe to their feed. I term family-friendly as 1) No foul language, 2) No sexual situations and 3) No positive drug promotion.
Do any of you have such a podcast and would like to submit it? I would like to have a decent number of podcasts to start with when I launch (Press Release is ready), and would welcome any suitable listings.
I have several family-friendly podcasts available, on business, faith, and entertainment, if anyone is interested. They are weekly, and you can find them at http://www.1stPodcastDirectory.com. They all have listener call in lines, if anyone would like to participate in the podcast.
Thanks in advance!

As thrilling as it is to hear absolute freedom and chaos out there in podcast land, I admit that my own show is awfully tame and that I don't swear simply because it makes my wife laugh at me. Unfortulately, as a "personal podcast," its appeal is a bit limited - though I do mix it up and share music from Hawaii and share some local news and interview folks now and then.
Which is to say, HawaiiUP is family/work safe, but not on purpose. :?
I have to admit, shows like DND and other "pushing the envelope" stuff is what got me excited about podcasting in the first place. But looking at my subscriptions, not a one is of the... colorful variety. It's great to know there is no FCC and that there's unfettered expression going on... but I guess my tastes are less adventurous than I'd like to think.
