Does an 8-channel mixer with built-in effects AND a multi-channel Firewire interface for $250 sound appealing? Check out:

Hey, that looks really nice. And if you think about it, the 8 channel is only $250 (though, it has dial pots instead of sliders.. I hate dials), that's not bad. A firewire interface is going to START at $200. With this you get the mixerboard AND the firewire interface in one package for $50 more.

Here's some more pictures:
8 Channel (http://media.zzounds.com/media/brand,zzounds/p31550h-65716a340fa13cdecefa4f701bdbdbac.jpg) $249.95 at Zzounds.com

12 Channel (http://media.zzounds.com/media/brand,zzounds/p31551h-644afbd961f38d04148d7c05e7d16aa7.jpg) I just might buy this. It's a great deal at $399.95

16 Channel (http://media.zzounds.com/media/brand,zzounds/p31552h-1160d373e06860ccca2c6d6630293a77.jpg) $499.95 - still a great deal, but probably overkill for a podcast, unless you're going to podcast live bands in your studio/basement.

Looks like Musicians Friend and BSW aren't carrying these yet.

Has anyone tried it out?

AND the effects...they have built-in effects as well.

I don't think they're shipping yet...they aren't on the Alesis product pages.

Yeah, but who really uses Echo, reverb or whatever in their podcast? What other effects does it have? It says 100. I would only be interested in a Compressor / Gate.

Oh look, I found the list of FX. Which ones would you use in a standard Podcast?
http://www.alesis.com/downloads/manuals/MultiMixFX_ProgramChart.pdf

www.zzounds.com says they're planning on shipping them on 4/29.

I would use them all. At the same time. Just because I can.

If that wasn't an option I'd play with them all for about an hour then never use them again (except when showing off to friends).

You just made a point, didn't you?

nice! craig you can distort your voice and have a metalgodcast...i can think of a way you can use the echo too, but that would be wrong to imitate god, wouldn't it?

Craig

I don't know...maybe I could drop my voice down an octave and add some reverb while reading some of the verses for "The Living Word"...I don't think He'd mind that! I could definitely find a use for the robot effect too. And a metalgodcast...hmm. That would be scary. (Especially in my hands.)

Of course, I can already do all this stuff in GarageBand.

(And yes, I'm totally joking.)

****, Craig. Why do you post these things? $250 is really affordable. But I just dropped a ton on my crappy setup as it is. :/ My last big purchase was the IRiver.

One thing for sure Craig, you are a real Mac user...rolling out the new items right after you make a major purchase. ;)

Haha, I was going to say it looked like Macintosh took a crap on Chris's desk.

Please don't lynch me mac people! I know you guys are sensitive about your apple products.

you'd better be careful pupu, there's a better chance of gettin sniped bustin on mac users than hatin on dnd...

I am an avid Mac user, but my biggest complaint is that they ALWAYS roll out a cool new toy the day after you buy a big ticket item. And it's usually the newest version of the thing you just bought.

I didn't know apple made sniper rifles...
Are they white, shiny, and rounded?
I bet they put the apple logo on the specially made bullets that only work on that weapon.

Ok, guys, I'm backing off. :)

Craig, I'm very glad to be on the team. I just thought you were so excited about that mixer that it would be coming my way. It's all right, though.

Oh, how do you know the Illinoise gang?

Also, I think I am very glad you do not do Karoake!

freakin bibb is a jackass and kicked out the mic cord or some ****...i think we'll have to issue a formal apology to our listeners...maybe it was a conspiracy by dnd...but anyways, bibb's G.A.S. (gear aquisition syndrome) kicked in and he wants to get "real" mics for the mixer he got (on another G.A.S. kick), now we have to do all this crap to set up...oh boy...maybe we'll sound better, but i doubt smarter...
