I am glad I had read the thread about podcastrelief.com. It was a nice 'backdoor' to the site while the DNS was having problems earlier today. :-)

i host my own dns on 2 different servers. when my primary server went down in the hard drive crash of 2005 :) so did my primary name server. I moved my site to the backup domain and pointed my secondary name server to it to get it back up as fast as possible (since podcastrelief.com was already running). However, when they finally got the data recovered and my primary server set back up, the primary nameserver took over. So, NS1 is pointing to one server and NS2 is pointing to a different server.

Needless to say, this causes downtime and other email, website issues. I think im all updated now, but who knows. i still have one more server move to tackle that will be THE BEST server. more space. more speed. more backups. MORE!

Well if you don't know already, your DNS servers should be setup with a push-pull type relationship. You could have just manually pushed the records of your secondary to your primary and they would have been identicle. You can still do this if you want to make sure that all "A" records are actually identicle.

I was going to say hit it with a hammer... but I guess version3's solution works too...
