Hello!

I am very dissatisfied with the recording-quality of my equipment.
Equipment:
iRiver IFP 799
mini-stereomicro EM106 Yoga
mini-monomicro from Kotec

The equipment should be used for soundseeings.
I was using the following detailled and informative guide to recording podcasts on an iRiver MP3: www.geekfishing.net/media/podcast/2005/03/16/iriver_ifp799_recording.html

The result of the recording is so far very bad. Very quietly, very much rushing. I´ ve changed the recording volume several times with no better results.

In Germany podcasting is almost a new technology, so nobody is realy able to help me.
I would be very grateful, if someone could help me with some tips.

Greetings
Frank

I was having these problems and had to return my Iriver to the store, the one I have now works great.

Hey Chris!
Thank you for your tip. This would be an easy solution for my problems.

Also, check your setting you may be recording at a low bit rate.

Sounds like you're making the mistake that I first made when I got my iRiver. I had plugged in an external mic, but I didn't change the setting that made it actually USE the external mic. So I was talking into the mic I was holding in my hand, but it was actually recording with the built-in mic on the side of the iRiver.

Moral of the story: Make sure your iRiver is set to record with the external mic and not "voice" or whatever the other setting is.

Also make sure that the external mic/line in setting is set to external mic. What you describe also sounds like it may be set to line in.
