Ok, I know I've mentioned this before, but the switching from one month to another is really awkward. The worst podcast might be #1 momentarily if they get a vote before everyone else. We don't see the true list until the end of the month. I really think you (Mr. Ferf) should consider taking all the votes from the previous month to determine the podcast's "Rank".
for example: If The Pilot and Jo Show got 300 votes from Feb 1st - Feb 31st and that is more than anyone else, they should be #1 for the entire duration of March. And when April 1st rolls around the votes for March should be calculated.
This is just a suggestion. So please shoot it down if the way it's done now is better for some reason.

What if the rankings were done on a sliding timeline for the past 30 days? That is, instead of starting new again every month, it would rank the most popular podcasts for the past 30 days only. Sort of the way music charts work.
You could also have a "Most Popular - March 2005" list that would stay permanent.
I don't know. Just an idea. Part of me kind of likes the free-for-all style. It makes me think that podcasts like mine just might have a chance of getting noticed! ;)

Don't you guys get it? This whole "listener ranking" thing is really just an April Fool's joke! Normally, Chris (from Podcast Alley) just picks his favorite 10 shows and puts them in whatever order he feels like. It's not a perfect system, but it seems to work out.
As you might have noticed, he's a big fan of Dawn and Drew. Although, not so hot on the guy who poops while he podcasts.
*fingers crossed* Hope he likes us this month!

OK, thats it, you corssed the line. You promised me you wouldnt tell anyone about my system. Now, as it was clearly stated in the contract, send NASA Janet over to my house. And tell her to bring the you know what.

I have to agree on the "Past 30 days" idea, which is what I thought it was going to be. The "start over every month" concept doesn't make much sense to me.

Especially not when it's so easy for people to inflate their votes without their listeners. It's pretty obvious when it's going on.

Hmm.. I kind of like it like this, the horses come out of the gate running, so to speak. That catholic show is kicking some ***. It must have the power of the pope behind it!

My site has been pushing really hard for votes for a good start this month. We usually stick around in the 40's area, but I made sure to get the word out and advertise for votes this month. I even went so far to placing an image (pictured below) at the top and center of the home page to remind people to vote. Thanks to the video gamer lifestyle we were able to get lots of votes out at 1-4 am on April 1 to shoot the show to #1 for several hours. It was odd how the Catholic podcast grabbed 30 votes in thirty minutes though. I guess the Catholic's know how to stick together in dark times.
