Shoot, I guess that means I will start.

A Little About Me
My name is Chris and Im a 26 year old graphic designer and programmer from Indiana (now Nashville). Married 4 years, No kids yet. A Little About Me
Name is Bryan, and I co-host a podcast called switched:on with my brother Jerry and one of our close friends, Rob. It's a fun new hobby and I'm looking forward to having more listeners than we can support. It looks like we've been growing fairly quickly already, and I couldn't be happier about that. I own my own Texas-based multimedia and design company called Orange Factor, and have been at that for a little over 2 years. I primarily develop web-based projects, but occasionally get to venture off into CD-ROM, DVD and corporate video.

In My Spare Time
Like so many others, my family gets the majority of my spare time. I also spend a great deal of it in front of this Mac staying involved in the design community and working pet projects. I spend my actual free time with air-cooled VWs and a very large group (gang) of VW enthusiasts based mostly in Texas.

Favorite Podcasts as of 3/25/05
This is difficult, as I've been listening as long as I've been doing (give or take 3 days), so I'm still trying to find podcasts that I can listen to more than once. I currently only listen daily to:

A Little About Me
Hi all: My name is Chris Kalaboukis and my podcast is called thinkfuture ETCETERA, which is pretty much about anything and everything. Lodged firmly in the "lone man ranting from his car" category, i record my podcast on my Treo 650 on my way to work each morning, mix in my co-host Crystal and a little bumper music and voila - you have a podcast. I live the SF bay area, have a wife and two kids, and have been working with the internet since 1992!

In My Spare Time
I have no spare time! I work long hours, have two side businesses, fit in some family time, then squeeze in some podcasting in the morning! I'm intensely interested in the future, politics, podcasting, entertainment etc

Favorite Podcasts as of 3/25/05
Daily Source Code, Dawn & Drew, Say Yum, WeFunk, Carribean Free Radio, Trippod, Free Talk Live, Viva Podcast

Little Known Facts
On my first trip to the Bay Area, I met William Randolph Hearst III. I had no idea who he was at the time - later when I got back to Canada, I saw his picture in the Forbes 500 and exclaimed "Holy S**T"

First, let me say Chris you have done an amazing job with this site. So many people who have not grasped the whole RSS feeding thing just come here to listen to the podcasts. This is a great source for everything.

I am a director/editor/producer of many things, particularly a TV show in the NJ/NY/PA area on strange news, local tales and folklore. Of course that's on top of a real job producing corporate film and commercials. I am a former DJ that left the biz because it just couldn't pay the bills. However, I've missed it for years and podcasting gives me the opportunity to marry my radio crave with our TV show to create a podcast version of our show, Hometown Tales. I truly believe this whole podcasting thing is a revolution. I think we are in for the next "dot.com" like boom from it.

Thanks Chris for a great site and to everyone else who has been so supportive of our podcast and the genre in general. I can't believe how great this whole thing is has been. The email, the hits to our site, the downloads, it's unbelievable.

Really like DSC, MacCast, Inside Mac Radio.

Thanks agian.

In My Spare time
It's my goal to have some spare time someday. Sure I could make some spare time now, but working is so much more satisfying at the moment. So all of my spare time is usually work-related.

My favorite Podcasts as of 3/25/2005
Well, I've only ever listened through one full podcast, and that's the Liberty Dollar podcast. I suppose that makes it my favoite? I don't even have time to listen to my own show! Learn more about the Liberty Dollar (http://dollar.freetalklive.com), if you like.

Little Known Fact
Actually not a corporate tool or evil schemer, contrary to some people's beliefs.

Why I love to Podcast
Podcasting & Podcast Alley have brought all new international listeners to Free Talk Live! Plus, our podcast listeners are some of the best. They email and call in! Podcast listeners are actually more dedicated than your average radio listeners. The nature of podcasting allows listeners to experience a program in toto, consistently, with little effort on the listener's part. Radio requires far more effort on the listener's part to achieve that level of listening!

NEW Krunkcasts We Listen To
Let us first say we listen to a bajillion podcasts and love all the regulars. We'll get to the rest of you soon enough. This week: Slacker Astronomy, Outchurched, Science@NASA, The Peanut Gallery <-- they're all awesome, so check 'em out.

Top 10 Things You Never Knew About Us
10. NASA Janet is really just a NASA janitor
9. The show actually takes place in Illinoise, ID. Right next to Boise, of course. As if providing more explanation made the joke funnier.
8. Just Pete is my real name. It's olde English. Like the cologne.
7. Podcasting is our day job. Dodgeball is how we pay the bills at night.
6. We're not very good at Top 10 lists. So...

1. We invented one of those other internets that George W. refers to in his speeches. We call it "Sparky".

Chris, do we get a t-shirt for this? Oh and, do you think Podcast Alley could sponsor our podcast? We understand, of course, that you would only be able to pay us in manufactured votes and boullion beef cubes. That's cool. We'll talk.

In My Spare time
Right now I’m trying to prepare for the Foreign Service Exam, so I’m reading a lot; mostly The Economist and books on the 10-page recommended reading list. I also like FAC-ing at the bar after a long week at work, eating at greasy diners when recovering from hangovers and watching ALIAS.

My Favorite Podcasts
Still new to podcasting, but right now I’m listening to: AirFerg; Dawn and Drew; Illinoise!; NGR Bugcast; The Twisted Pickle.

Little Known Fact
I hate the word "Heartland" because our local news stations use it as a replacement for Nebraska. As in: "Our top story in the Heartland, two Heartland residents decided to marry their cats, Fluffy and Paw-Paw, in a civil ceremony downtown. Adam Knightly has the details in tonight’s segment of 'Heartland Heroes.'" Very annoying, but even more annoying is that the part about the cat wedding is true; I saw it on the Sunday evening news a few months ago.

I'm a writer and editor based in Pasadena, California. I write and produce Dumpster Bust, a general interest entertainment, politics, and culture blog, as well as write and edit for BlogCritics.org. I thought podcasting would be a great way to talk about the things I write about, have some fun, and shed a different perspective on things.

I'm also trying to promote open source music and get interesting interview subjects on the air.

About My Show
I started Dave's Lounge (http://www.daveslounge.com/) because most of the trip hop and downtempo tunes that I really like are tunes nobody else has ever heard of. So I wanted to play them for others, as I don't want to be the only person I know who likes my favorite music. I'd love to play more of the tunes in my collection, but I'd like to stay as podsafe as possible.

A Little About Me
I'm 33-year-old tech writer and Internet geek from Durham, NC. I'm single with no kids, though I'm dating a cute brainy redhead at the moment. I have two blogs -- my personal blog (http://www.permanent4.com/), which is horribly unfocused and tends to get neglected on a semi-regular basis, and Dave's Football Blog (http://www.davesfootballblog.com/), which is all about the NFL. (I'm considering doing a football podcast in association with the football blog, but probably not until August or so.)

In My Spare time
I spend way too much time in front of computers. To break the monotony, I go swing dancing two or three nights a week. I also make music (http://www.permanent4.com/music/), though not nearly as often as I used to. I'm a huge roller coaster fiend and love to hit theme parks at least twice a year. I used to play online poker. I gave it up when I realized it was crack, but I still host a low-stakes game at my house every other Wednesday. Oh, and I'm really digging the new episodes of Doctor Who.

Well-known facts
Like kneelw of Borderline I hate the word "Heartland" because it's used by the Right to make people do crazy things to protect an abstract ideal rather than a place, and it's used by Right and Left Coasters to point to the place they think stupid people live in. Like aaronsnet at The Detour, I am just sick of the south ... This area just really has never appealed to me. I did shows on Chicago and Wisconsin food for both these reasons.

To this day I swear the reason I made it as far in the tryouts as I did, was because when asked what I could bring to my tribe, I told them that if they put a smoker in the middle of nowhere, with a pack of cigarettes and no matches, you better believe I'd find a way to make fire.

Hey there, everyone.

A Little About Me
Well, my name is Gavin and I play guitar and sing in a rock band from Maryland called The Making. I'm a songwriter, but I do website and graphic design in order to pay the bills. I was the music director of my college radio station and I had two weekly shows, so for me, podcasting comes as a natural extention of what I've already learned about radio.

I set up a podcast for The Making which can be found here (http://www.themakingband.com/podcast/), and it's an audio diary that we make as we record songs, play shows, and generally evolve as songwriters and as a band. Also, we're ultra-mega hilarious (which may or may not be actually true), which makes it interesting for our listeners.

Oh! And also, if you like our music http://www.themakingband.com/, it's totally podsafe! Just drop me a note to let me know which show we should plug in our podcast. ;)[/url]

I hope to make some connections on this forum so I can get some listeners, and I would be more than willing to donate any talent (HA!) that you might want from me.

about myself
I'm a chronic college student in the field of Biochemical Engineering in Rapid City, South Dakota. I work at an internet help desk. My hobbies include gaming, listening to music, hiking in the Black Hills, and writing stories. I've travelled to many places whenever I got the chance. I never regretted one trip.

why I'm interested in Podcasting
Being on the internet for most of the day exposes me to the latest in technology trends. Podcasting caught my eye. Like most podcasters (I assume), I am a bit extroverted. I first listened to the Daily Source Code after reading the Wired article. Curry mentioned Dawn and Drew, and now I'm hooked.

about my podcast
My first podcast is a bit rough, but i had a blast making it. I plan on having a regular co-host, and I will have a music freak introduce her favorite new bands. I'm particularly keen on this idea.

little known fact
i have very uncooperative hair.

I read about podcasting on BBC News (I'm from the UK) and decided to give it a listen, what with having an iPod and plenty of time on my hands at work.

Hello! I'm Sean Tubbs, a freelance audio producer who is using podcasting to supplement his radio career. My podcasts are a little atypical, but they're quite interesting to say the least. Essentially, podcasting gives me the chance to produce slightly longer features, as well as the chance to provide listeners with raw material, such as lectures and panel discussions.

Sound boring? Possibly, but to me, podcasting offers the chance to reach new listeners, and gives me leverage in dealing with the various outfits I sell my stories to.

At the moment, this is my spare time, as I'm taking the summer to explore the opportunities that podcasting can give me and others. I'm also actively looking for other Virginians who are doing podcasts so that we can share material.

I listen to several podcasts, but the only one I listen to on a daily basis is Pete & Geoff's Breakfast show from Virgin Radio in the UK. Yes, it's a repurposed commercial product, but it keeps me in touch with English pop culture.

Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself!

Just started podcasting a few weeks ago, and I'm finally starting to not cringe at the sound of my voice. Therefore, I decided to submit my work to the podcasting directories, and of course, I had to start off with Podcast Alley.

About My Show
I was interested in LiveJournal's ability to include audio entries via their PhonePost system but was kind of frustrated with the lack of control over sound quality. Yes, I am yet another person who will soliloquizes in my podcast. CastPodder (http://www.castpodder.com/) is an obvious play on words and sort of represents my topsy-turvy ramblings.

A Little About Me
I was born and raised in Hawai'i but moved out to California two years ago in search of greater things and a stabler future. I'm an aspiring writer and journalist with several online bylines to my credit. I live in a small town called Lafayette (some 25 miles outside San Francisco) with my Significant Other, his family, a cat, and a lovebird who thinks she's people.

In My Spare time
I'm an avid videogame fan and adore my PS2. I indulge in the world's most expensive hobby (anime) and for fun I like to pretend I'm someone else (i.e.: I enjoy roleplaying). And now that the weather's right, I'm trying to teach myself how to garden (or at least keep a potted plant alive).

My favorite Podcasts as of 5/28/2005:

The Dragon Page (all 'casts)
Geek Fu Action Grip (the one that inspired me to start podcasting)

The Show
http://www.spewkie.com
I started the show talk about whatever pops in my head. My friends sometimes find my rants on various subjects to be entertaining. I typically do not have much to say. However, once I start recording, I just start talking like a machine. I am trying to control that. I like to think of my show to be more of a variety show with music. I find my show to be rough around the edges. However, I am sure with more work and dedication that it will end up being much better overall.

A Little About Me
I live in New York City, and my name is Ty, but I go by Spewkie (Spooky) online. I am a 24 year old unemployed systems administrator. I also have a tendency of ranting on various subjects.

My name is Jim Goetz, I'm 42 years old and just retired from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department in Maryland (after 20 years as a Firefighter Paramedic). I remain a licensed Paramedic and Paramedic Instructor, currently working for the US Govt near Washington DC.

I have worked in Broadcast media for the past 10 years. Including Television and Web Media. In Television, I worked as a Video Editor and Videographer for a CBS affiliate in Baltimore. In Web Media, I own several web (news) services that revolve around Public Safety. These include, The National Incident Notification Network (www.NINN.net), The Maryland Fire Network (www.MFNweb.com), Planet Firehouse Magazine (www.Planetfirehouse.com), Firehouse TV (www.firehouse.tv) and Firehouse Radio (www.Firehouse.FM)

The Show
The Firehouse Radio Show is about the world of the Public Safety. Though it may sound boring, it's not. We have interviews with people in todays (main stream) news, we have "On Scene" reports from incidents around the country and lots of sound and radio bytes.

In My Spare Time
I think of ways to improve "Fire Service" Podcasting. There's just no limit to syndicated media!

Favorite Podcast(s)
Richard Vobes is King! (www.Vobes.com), I also have enjoyed the DV Show! I'm not a big fan of the DSC, however I am subscribed and listen every day. Though I find myself fast forwarding through most of his belches, facts for belching and his life history. I listen mostly for Podcasting News and his (corporate) meeting minutes.

Little Known Fact

I'm Frank J. I already have a successful humor blog, and have been convinced to try podcasting since it's supposed to be the next big thing. Moving from writing to talking takes some time to get down, but luckily we (my podcast is done by a group spread around the country; only one near me is my fiancee) have someone with experience in radio who is great with editing, voices, putting in music and sound effects as appropriate.

Haven't listened to many other podcasts yet, but plan to do some surveying to see what I'm up against.

About me: I'm Rachel, I have been listening to podcasts daily for a couple of months now, and I'm addicted. Luckily I have a monotonously boring job which allows me much use of my Zen micro (that's a 4gig mp3 player for you ipod people :)

My friend Mike & I intend to roll out our first official podcast, Verbal Asylum, July 4th weekend. We're really excited and just tweaking the website and format for the show. I guess you could classify it as "comedy", essentially it's just us doing what we do.

In my spare time: Spare time..hmm, I think I vaguely remember what that is. I work full time in insurance admin. and I'm also a college student pursuing degrees in digital multimedia production and web development. I'm also teaching myself to build our website for the show. Add in a boyfriend, a dog, and a video game habit and you get the picture.

Favorite podcasts: I really dig This Week in Tech, Dawn & Drew, and Podcast411. I just started listening to Illinoise and luv it!

In my spare time: my spare time has been given over to creating these podcasts recently, but i enjoy the old drumming on my Pearl Jap Export series, been playing for about 7 years without a single taught lesson, or any type of lesson for that matter. i collect music. i don't really do much else. lots of things interest me and i suppose i could be caled a jack of all trades. pcs, music, art, acting, literature and a whole lot more.

Hey. I've been listening to podcasts since February, and doing one myself since April: The Spine.cx Podcast (http://podcast.spine.cx/).

My favourite podcasts right now (in no particular order) are Keith and the Girl (http://www.keithandthegirl.com), Daily Source Code (http://dailysourcecode.com), Fox and the City (http://foxinthecity.libsyn.com/) (****, that guy is hilarious), the CBC Radio 3 podcast (http://www.cbcradio3.com/), and the Whip Report (http://www.thewhipreport.com).

I'm a 29 year-old software developer. My show is based out of my living room in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=halifax,+nova+scotia,+canada&spn=0.169847,0.228636&hl=en). I have a regular co-host, Jeannine, who's one of my co-workers' girlfriends, and there are many irregular (in all senses of the word) co-hosts, including Matt the Player. The show is generally a comedy one though we might talk about a serious issue every now and then. I think that I was the first person to do a pub crawl podcast (or pubcast) (http://spine.cx/article.php?sid=755).

If you're interested in listening, a good episode to start at would be our Canada Day episode (http://spine.cx/article.php?sid=761). Some of the earlier episodes can be pretty stinky ;)

Oh yeah...I'm currently having a contest to see who can make the best promo (http://spine.cx/article.php?sid=797) for my podcast. I'm offering a meager prize, because I can't afford that much :)

Hey everyone,

I've been lurking and occasionally posting on these boards for about a month, but thought I'd introduce myself officially now. My name is Carmen and my podcast is Addicted to Race, I'm in NYC.

My co-host Jen and I run a diversity training company called New Demographic, and we basically go around to different colleges and companies and organizations doing workshops on mixed race identity and interracial relationships, examining the myths and stereotypes surrounding each, and trying to raise awareness of the realities of being mixed or in an interracial couple/family.

We recently did a radio interview for WBAI and after, Jen and I started thinking about how cool it would be to have our own show. We didn't really think much about it until I started reading about podcasting everywhere, and it seemed like the perfect vehicle.

So anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for sharing all your knowledge. I've learned a lot by reading through the posts in these forums, and it's nice to be a part of this new and growing community. :)

Take care,

Carmen

IMAO Podcast is the slick, weekly alternative comedy podcast from eight diverse humor bloggers spread out across four time zones in six states. IMAO guarantees this podcast is unlike any podcast you have ever heard before.

"What makes us different" you ask?

Unlike most podcasts where a couple of tiresome thirtysomethings record themselves stammering profanities for an hour three times a week into the iBook or amateur DJs think they are thumbing their noses at the RIAA by playing the music nobody would ever want to hear, the IMAO Podcast is intentionally funny.

LISTENER QUOTES:
"The IMAO Podcast is politically-incorrect audio theater for people living the digital lifestyle..."

"I stopped listening to the IMAO Podcast at work because I would laugh too loud. Now I have an iPod with headphones and can laugh on the train like the rest of the crazy people..."

"This podcsat are dumb an your not funny..."
Check us out and thanks for listening:

Me too! Sorry for neglecting this.......

My name is Josh, and I am an active duty navy guy who is stationed on shore duty in Japan.....

My last duty station was one of the cruisers stationed here in Japan where I met my beautiful wife......

Then I went back CONUS for 6 months for school, and was stationed where I currently am today.....

I have two beautiful daughters and enjoy family life about as much as anyone could!

I started podcasting after listening for a couple months after I bought my first iPod back in March. I discovered podcasting while searching for ipod tips and tricks.

The first podcast that I listened to was Bibb and Yaz Take over the World (http://www.bibbandyaz.com), and those two made me realize that this medium was going to take off!

I now own the blog Josh In Japan (http://www.joshinjapan.com), and produce the weekly podcast that is associated with it.

Every Sunday, I record about an hour's worth of show. In my show, I explain what life is like here in Japan for the average foreigner (gaijin).

As for what the future holds.......

Well, since I have become so enthralled with the Japanese culture, I am planning on going back to the US for a year and redirect my BS into something a little more suitable for civilian life. Once that is complete in about a year or so, I will come back to one of the bases here in mainland Japan and work as a civil service employee.......

double the pay with less political bullshit.....

Art a GoGo
Sep 17th, 2005, 07:43 PM
Hey Everyone,

My name is Doug and I’m 50% of the Art a GoGo Podcast. My wife Kathleen and I http://www.artagogo.com/blog/?page_id=21 launched Art a GoGo in January 2000 as an alternative to the academic and boring discussions about art that you normally read. Our goal is to provide new, reviews and commentary about art and the art world that is accessible and hopefully entertaining.

I first heard about podcasting in an article that I read I read in the NY Times when I was NY in February. I was immediately hooked as a listener and haven’t listened to commercial radio since.

In June, we started the Art a GoGo Podcast. During the summer, we did a several museum soundseeing tours in Santa Cruz, London, Scotland, and Stanford. We’re not just about soundseeing tours, but the opportunities presented themselves. We plan to back in the home studio soon, complete with some new mics!

Kathleen and I both grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and have lived in Santa Cruz since 1988. My regular gig is managing customer service and technical support teams and I currently work for a company in the biotech field. I love art, but I’m far from being an expert. Kathleen leads dual lives and is the real art expert of the family. She works part time as a dental hygienist (have you flossed today??) and teaches art history at a community college.

Since I’m a reluctant geek, I “marinated by brain in the Podcast Alley forums for at least a month or more trying to figure out the best resources and tools to get our podcast off the ground. We’re having a blast. My next goal is to record a promo, but I’ve been too **** busy working!

Hi, my name is Gus Caveda. I'm a songwriter/producer from Miami, FL. I first learned about podcast from a friend at the gym. She had grown tired of listening to the same boring music while workingout and turned to podcast to find more intersting subjects. Well after noticing how many people in my area were doing the same (listening to podcast while workingout), I figured I'd start my own "A Better Day". But I didn't want to just provide more music. I wanted to do somethng more.

So my show is about alternative health & fitness. We talk about everything from diets, meditation to even hypnotherapy. All presented with hi-energy music so that our listeners can still work-out without listening to only someone blabbing away. :D

My name is Steve and I'm the host/producer of two motor racing podcasts, The F1 Podcast (http://www.thef1podcast.com) and The A1GP Podcast (http://www.thea1gppodcast.com) (which is in the pending list here).

As you might guess, I'm a big motor racing fan and I feel that podcasting allows me to participate more in my hobby, bringing me into contact with other motor racing fans around the world.

I'm Scottish, married, a father of 2 and living in the southeast of England where the weather is much better. Hello, I'm Matt Dattilo, the guy responsible for the Matt's Today in History (http://www.mattstodayinhistory.com) podcast. I've always had a great love of history and podcasting gave me an opportunity to give voice to my passion. I've been an avid reader of this forum for some time, but I believe this is my first post (I have a terrible memory ;-)).

Anyway, hello to all of you. I think we're all doing good work.

I’m a Professional Bodypainter (As in Make-up and People…not Cars). I wanted to do a podcast to promote my Artwork . but the Podcasting ideas started to have a mind of its own. I’m finding I have too much to say about other topics then bodypainting to have the show just about bodypainting . So I have decided to allow this to evolve into its own thing… be that away or towards my Artwork

I have been asked to audition for Radio twice (Discovered by Local Radio stations while I was Working Drive through at a fast food restraint) but Because of a learning disability from childhood I cannot read out loud. (It gets all jumbled up … Sentences from above and below where I should be reading get added into what I am currently saying….an no bookmarks and stuff does not seem to work…yet ) and Thus why I’m not in Radio… but Podcasting gives me the chance to work at my own pace and memorize or fly by the seat of my pants as I will ….. (by the way I’m working on that whole Reading out loud thing….some progress is being made )

I'm Steve Sergeant. I produce a podcast called "The WildeBeat: The audio journal about getting into the wilderness. (http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=6425)"

This podcast started as a show I was trying to sell as a regular weekly segment to one of the NPR newsmagazines. After seven months of near-misses with my pitch, I decided in April 2005 just to start producing shows anyway, and releasing them as podcasts.

Professionally, I've engineered music recordings, produced and engineered sound for film and television, worked as a classical DJ, and twenty years ago, produced a few local public radio features about midwestern folk and jazz musicians. I worked in the tech industry doing recording studio and later television system design for 20 years. (My broadcast and studio systems engineering credits and references are available on request.)

My favorite professional podcasts:
Pulse of the Planet (http://www.pulseplanet.com/), Living on Earth (http://www.loe.org), On The Media (http://onthemedia.org), Earthwatch Radio (http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=1418), SETI Institute's "Are We Alone?" (http://www.seti.org/site/pp.asp?c=ktJ2J9MMIsE&b=178892)

My favorite indie/amateur podcasts:
Slacker Astronomy (http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=1519), Skepticality (http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=3527), Trailcast (http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=3089)

As you can see, I'm mostly a fan of shows that have educational or news value, and am not so impressed by shows that are there mostly to showcase someone's outrageous personality, or their ability to fill air time rambling about nothing in particular. I'm still getting over the amateurish production of some of the shows, though if the content is informative, that's not hard.

I live in San Jose, California. When I'm not consulting on broadcast facility design, I'm leading backpacking, and snow-camping/ski-touring trips for the Sierra Club.

Greetings everyone!

Hi Folks,

My name's Russell. I'm a 40 year old family man from Australia. I don't have the esteemed background in audio and video careers that a lot of you have, but I do have a computing background, so that covers half of what I'm doing here.

Regarding Podcasting, I only just discovered it a few weeks ago, and I'm loving it. Prior to Podcasting, I mainly used my mp3 player (Xclef HD800) to listen to the Radio :]. Haven't listened to the radio since.

I went ahead and downloaded a slew of shows to see what it's all about and listened to some sample shows, and now am working my way through the 1 gig of stuff I've downloaded so far. I finally finished all the This Week In Tech shows, I'm only a week behind in Daily Source Code shows, then I can start on Engadget, Postcast 411 etc shows.

I run 2 primary web sites at the moment, an online gamers site (http://gwbuilds.mmogers.info is the primary subdomain site), and a boomerang site (http://boomeranginfo.com), neither of which have a Podcast.

I have, however registered a domain for a site I hope to get up, which will be an information site with regular or one-off podcasts to inform and educate people on an eclectic collection of topics that are not currently covered, or have limited coverage, in podcast format. Hobbies, Crafts, Sciences, Education etc.

I'm particularly interested in trying to get together educational podcasts for people new to specific topics, or for children of all ages, who may not have time or the inclination to sit in front of a PC and read about this stuff, but who can listen to this information while going about their daily lives. I myself have an hour's commuting time every day, that I could put to better use by listening to Podcasts, instead of printing out and reading information on crowded trains.

As I'm still investigating all my time/resource/bandwidth/hardware/software issues, I'm holding off making major commitments yet, as I like to investigate everything thoroughly before I jump into it big time.

Anyway, I've waffled on too much (is that a qualification to become a podcaster? :]). Hope to catch up more with you all on the forums.

I'm Scott McCollum, and some of you probably recognize me as the founder, former executive producer, and principal voice talent of the IMAO Podcast (http://www.imaopodcast.com/index.html). I am a self-taught audio designer, voice over artist, and frequent producer/co-host of a weekend radio show broadcast from Seattle, WA and heard on nine terrestrial radio stations via syndication on the Universal Talk Network (http://www.universaltalknetwork.com).

For much of the past year I've been involved as a podcasting consultant to radio conglomerates, political think tanks, well-known software companies, indie musicians, and citizens interested in this technology. Ask me about these projects when you see me at the Portable Media Expo 2005 (http://www.portablemediaexpo.com) on November 11-12.

My latest podcasting project, Pure Idiom (http://pureidiom.com), is a slick, well-produced episodic comedy podcast featuring radical political views, celebrity voice impersonations, and podsafe music:

Pure Idiom is:

Nathan Scott (Executive Producer, Editor, Writer (http://homocon.com), Composer (http://aalacho.com), Vocals)
Scott McCollum (Vocals, Writer, Script Coordinator)
Laurence Simon (Writer (http://isfullofcrap.com), Vocals, Promotions)
As always, my many thanks to Chris McIntyre and PodShow, Inc. for providing the Podcast Alley portal and forum. Great job, guys!

The Show: The BostonGeek Podcast (see sig for links)

About Me: I am a Bostonian, and have been for the past 13 years. Aside from that, I consider myself a geek (hence the name of the website and podcast). I am not talking about a carnival performer who does wild or disgusting acts. I am talking about the contemporary use of the word... I dig technology, computers, videogames, boardgames, and RPGs.

As a geek, what initially compelled me to do the show was the ability to play with new tech. Not only did I yearn to touch a mixer again (it had been ages... when I was a lad, knee high to a gr*****pper, and my highschool had a recording studio), but I liked the idea of putting more content creation in the hands of "the people." Since I am mostly considered a person, I felt this applied to me too.

Also, I am a ninja... and I hate pirates.

Things I like:
Music: Fantomas, Miles Davis, Cibo Matto, Dresden Dolls, Handsome Boy Modelling School, Ennio Moriccone
Food: None of this low-fat, low-carb nonsense
OS: OSX Tiger
Boardgames: Carcassonne, Zombies, Risk
Travel: Faves thus far... Sedona, Phuket, Hong Kong, SW Germany

About the Show: I won't pretend that the show will never change. Like myself, it is a bit dynamic. But, currently the format consists of banter between myself and co-host (Carl), life-long tech and gaming geeks. The first segment in the show is called the Tech Top Three, and it is where we discuss the three top tech stories of the previous week (btw, it is a highly subjective list). And, the other segment is The Gaming Table. This is where we get to talk about gaming. We discuss new products, industry news, and game reviews. We hope to expand to include some interviews and field recordings.

And...: Did I mention I am a ninja and I hate pirates? Oh, I guess I did. Well, I guess I just want to say that I am having a blast thus far with podcasting. I enjoy reading many of the posts here and find the forums to be quite a useful tool and resource. I look forward to hearing many of your podcasts and discussions about podcasting.

And, if anyone is interested in forming a Tech/Gaming/Geek Podcasting cosortium where we could help promote and produce content for each other, let me know. I think it could prove extremely beneficial.

rookiee
Nov 4th, 2005, 05:11 PM
Hey guys! My name's Rookiee. I'm the punching bag of the podcast community and PCA.

My show.

I host a show titled Pedologues. Much to the dismay of many people who actually listen, we don't rape children on the show, but rather we talk about all the taboo stuff that people usually don't touch with a 20 foot pole.

I have a sexual, spiritual and romantic affinity for minors, which of course is the source of peoples' ire. Most of the time I can't even post to the forum without someone saying "Cork it, Child Molester". It's become a household tagline, really.

I started my show as a result from personal frustration of society's stereotyping of people sexually attracted to anyone under the legal age; children, teens, tweens, youth, etc., as well as vice versa; (minors attracted to adults) both hetero and homosexual. It aims to tackle the stereotypes, hypocrisies, generalizations, villanizations, and eventual condemnations that Salem residents of 1692 would be proud of.

My show is determined to take on the issue from an objective standpoint (as much bias as can be possible seeing as how I'm from a biased point of view) and to simply just let people know, hey, we're out there, we aren't as evil as everyone thinks we are. And even though some people get squicked out by the idea that someone who's barely entering puberty wants to get it on with someone twice their age, vice versa, they have the right to have those feelings and not be persecuted.

The title of the show was conciously designed to be provocative. It's a satirical play on words to other controversial productions like "Vagina Monologues". It also french for "pedology" which is the "study of child development". It also indicates what the show is about; that all I'm doing is audio-blogging the same type of conversations that people have all the time on the net in text format. Text blogs don't get attention, though; they're harmless; it's not enough. They don't make a dent in people's minds.

I realized that if I gave it some cushy, soft title, people wouldn't get the idea and/or listen to it. It's generally marketed to the general public rather than being a "preach to the choir" type show. Since most community terms aren't that well-known, I figured it'd be best to just dispense with the formalities and call it something any layman would understand, even if it is a bit of a misnomer.

My show was banned and blacklisted from most of the indexes I submitted it to, including PCA. This was totally expected by me, although by luck it happened a lot sooner than I expected. All the furor and hysteria over a "pedophile podcast" really brought up my listenership stats. Thanks Jack and Yaz. :)

Lil ol' me.

As for me, I'm just your general, average geek. I have a normal life just like anyone else, a job, normal hobbies. I eat the same hotdogs and cheeseburgers that everyone else does.

I'm for free speech of all types, as long as it does not infringe on the rights and liberties of others. I love music of all types, mostly techno, new-age, ambient, folk and rock.

Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to the Portable Media Expo in California. I'll be looking forward to the baseball bats.

Oh hey, just realized I never posted in here. And of all the obvious places to slip in numerous shameless plugs about one's own work!

A Little About Me
I'm Thom Stricklin. I hail from a state which is both an armpit and the frying pan of the union: Arizona. Techie by day, webmaster/film critic by night, podcaster on the weekends, and aspiring filmmaker on extended vacations.

In My Spare Time
This is my spare time. I run a movie review website: SMART-POPCORN.com (http://www.smart-popcorn.com), dedicated to providing useful ratings to all walk of moviegoers (without making spoonfed decisions on their behalf). I've been at that for about three years, and decided that this new craze called "podcasting" would be a great opportunity to extend our reach a bit.

The SMART-POPcast (short for SMART-POPCORN.com Podcast, as that's quite a mouthful) is a weekly show in which we review the most recent theatrical & DVD releases, and also reflect upon the week's film industry news. We're a so-called "SkypeCast", conferencing with each other cross-country, and I think we've got pretty good production value for that kind of setup. (Feel free to break down my delusions of grandeur if you wish.)

Favorite Podcasts
* TWiT - I love it. (It's obvious if you listen to my cast... We follow their model to a rather shameless degree.)
* Coverville - is cool. Just started listening.
* Ebert & Roeper - Hardly qualifying as a podcast, but they're the yardstick we film critics measure by.
* Blind Access Journal - run by a local guy. I'm not blind by any means (just nearsighted), but it's a neat listen. As it's audio-only, it's almost like stepping in his shoes & experiencing things as he would.

For the most part, I'm just really becoming fascinated with the gamut of content out there. I haven't found any casts aside from TWiT that I'd personally use to get information, but it's just really cool to listen to a "couple cast" or someone who just loves what they do, loves something that I'd never myself give a second thought. There is no "fourth wall" in podcasting as there is in TV or film or most other mediums. Very cool.

Hello everybody. My name is Tony.
I live in the North of England, and have abandoned radio completely in favour of Podcasts. I am 32 (33 just before Xmas) and happily married.

I found out about Podcasts through the BBC, then used to listen to Richard Vobes, but wanted something more. Then I got into the Daily Source Code, Distorted View, and the Post Modern Rock Show among lots of other great Podcasts.

I also make music in my free time, and have posted a few tracks on the Podsafe Music Network under the name of amb26.

I am so passionate about Podcasting. I am telling everyone about them. I have one possible convert in the wings.

My Favourite Podcasts

Post Modern Rock Show, Le Show, Daily Source Code, Top Of The Pods, PK and J show, Distorted View, Cinecast, Fox in the City, Pacific Coast Hellway, Tartanpodcast, and lots more.

Hello,

I'm a radio producer in Laaandaaaan (that's London pronouced correctly, just like Dick Van Dyke; the man had it down 110% man) on the greatest radio station on earth - Resonance 104.4fm. Yeah, quite a claim, but it is, it just is, we don't get paid, yet we get to broadcast on FM and it's the only place in the world where you can hear the sounds of bees, fridges, avant garde rock, C&W, thrash metal and calling all pensioners insanity.

I do a show called Midnight Sex Talk - we talk about sex and it goes out at midnight every other Sunday night, the name took us a week to come up with - and we are getting about... er... some podcasters.

Looking forward to joining in here, looks like the place to be.

Hey all!
I'm Kera, The Diva of the soon to be released Dork and Diva Show.

A Little About Me
I'm a 31 (gulp) year old New Hampster transplant living in Jersey. By day I provide tech support to my clients (and fellow co-workers). I'm one of two PC-literates in my department. Jason, my co-host, is the other...he's the dork, no really, HE IS! I think he has some hypnotic powers too 'cause I'm so not sure how he convinced me to do this podcast thing.

About our Show
Well, it's tough to say. We haven't actually released our first show yet. Still working out some kinks, but its basically about us...two co-workers with some spare time on our hands and feel the need to express our selves to to the podcast public.
Our recipe for success: Mix 1 part energy drink, 1 part attitude, 1 part comedy, 2 parts general banter, a dash (let's try not to over do it JASON) of sound effects, and a little ranting...pour over nostalgia and serve chilled.

In My Spare time
I love to shop, watch movies with my hubby, shop, chat with friends, shop, go dancing, shop, and find content for our show...did I mention I Love to Shop?

My favorite Podcasts

We're Jennifer and Jackie of The Morning BrewCast.

A Little About Us:
Our tagline goes something like this:
"Two Coffee-Loving, Java-Jumping, Caffeine-Crazy Sisters who like to chit chat after a cup or two or three of their favorite morning brew."
This is very true! So much so that we decided to start a show back in Sept. 2005

About our Show
We start and end each show with a coffee mug toast. The conversation runs from Coffee related stories to Texas Myths (yes we are from Texas). Occasionally we bring guests into the studio to share their coffee stories and have been known to "go on the road" with a show.

In our Spare Time:
Jackie has an active 2 (almost 3) year old whom she spends most of her spare time with. Jennifer is spending most of her spare time listening to podcasts while working on the Morning BrewCast website and podcasts. Thank goodness her family is so supportive. All in all we're having a good time!

Does anyone really care to hear about me? I am lazy and probably will not type anything with meaning. So combine white trash, lazy, and lack of motivation...That gives you dum dum dum dum...The Dork!

When you listen to our show I will speak about myself for hours on end anyway so this is like a cliff hanger to make you all listen to the show.

If I can figure out a way to correct the sound of our podcast and add an overwhelming amount of sound effects then it should be up any day.

Yes I know Diva, I said that like two weeks ago. Hey but there was a lot of good stuff on TV. Did anyone see 24? Awesome!

If you like baseball (and fantasy baseball), you be the judge at Baseballgeeks.com.

Surprised I never did this - I'm an old-skool member of the forum who doesn't post as much now.

A Little About Me

I'm Tim from London and I'm a designer by trade, secret podcasting super hero by night...ahem. I'm 32 soon to be 33 and favourite colour is black, favourite chocolate bar is Star Bar and favourite sport is sleeping.
Have a partner of 9 years called John who I occasionally talk about on the podcast (and appeared once!),

I have no cats, no children and do not live in a converted barn in Kent.

About our Show

My show is Radio Clash (http://www.mutantpop.net/radioclash/) - started November 2004 and still going, as of posting on Show 68 so I'm roughly weekly.

It's a music based (ramble?) show, playing an eclectic mix of mashups, interesting/weird covers, indie/unsigned music, punk/indie, pop, dance remixes and electronica, and general oddness...really I do play anything from japanese game themes, metal meets drum and bass to bush sampling mashups!

Also do occasional Tim and Kirk Show which is more ranty/humour/talk and great music and general silliness, also do topical/personal rants, interviews, artist profiles, event news and reports, outside broadcasts, travel podcasts/soundseeing, voicemails and listener feedback, and mixes, and theme shows.

In My Spare Time

Crazy about all music, I'm also involved with the mashup/bootlegging scene and have been creating mixes for the last 3-4 years under the name Instamatic and DjNoNo amongst others - even have had my tunes on vinyl, and DJed in London and San Francisco although I tend to DJ sporadically rather than regularly being a fun thing rather than a job.

I also do photography - of events and also everyday things, used to do more portraiture but not so much nowadays - need a studio really!

Favorite Podcasts

Loads - full list at the blog (http://www.mutantpop.net/radioclash/) but the newest additions are:

Drowned in Sound
Night Nurse Show
Anti Hit List Podcast
Top of the Pods
50 Pound Note (yay! Jeb!)

Little Known Fact

Umm...I nearly got on radio when I was 11, local radio was doing a big compo and I was a good letter writer so got into the last 30 kids.

A Little About Me
My name is Cob, I'm married with one son living in Missouri. I am a manager in a grocery store and I've worked overnights for around 18 years. I enjoy reading, movies, family stuff, and sports.

In My Spare time
I have been running a Dungeons and Dragons game since 1984. I had been recording the game since 2002 and then I found podcasting. It has been online since February of 2005 and it is great fun to hear feedback from other gamers, especially those who are unable to game for some reason. We gamers have to stick together! We know it's not for everybody but hey, it's free and it helps pass the time if you're stocking the shelves late at night or have a long drive.

My favorite Podcasts as of 06/08/2006:
Nobody Likes Onions, Dawn and Drew Show, Dragons Landing Inn, Anarchy-X, The Nobodies, and The Bob and Tom Show (the best ever!)

I’m a hateful, gun toting bastard.

I’m representing FBill Radio (http://www.fbillradio.com/):
FBill Radio is singularly about technology. Technology and hacking. The two focuses of the show are technology, hacking, and current events. Amongst the shows topics are diverse topics such as technology, hacking, current events, games, and nerdism. No topic is left uncovered. Basic topics like men and women are discussed with equal fervor as stylish topics like sex. Drugs are not usually spoken off. However, if pretentious British music counts as rock and roll, then that topic is worn out like Madonna.

Listeners of the show claim that it is very comical. Some also said it was juvenile. One listener said it was elastic. No one has ever said the show transcends both time and space. Beware! There have been two occasions where the show has transcended both time and space, just like Rudy Rucker. What no one has said about the show, which doesn’t necessarily make it false, is that the show is haphazard, witty, dynamic, and loaded with kinetic energy (potential as well, as per the conservation of energy). People have written letters exclaiming their passion for the content, asking for absurd titles, and overall making the co-hosts feel like there is someone out there listening. Thank you for listening.

The show can be downloaded at www.fbillradio.com. It is very free for everyone, including you reading this with the glasses. They have no sponsors. They have no money. They do not even have tonsils. Sponsorship seems like something they would enjoy. However, in a private interview with Mr. White, he said this about sponsors: “Every person in the world would like to have ten fingers, but not everyone is that lucky. I would eat a pomegranate any day of the week.”

FBill Radio is very explicit. It has earned an itunes rating of “explicit” because of horribly vulgar language, maybe. Probably. The Hosts boast that they have the power of free speech and try to exercise that on every episode. The term guerilla radio was invented to give better meaning to the shows content and style of attack. The FCC cannot keep FBill Radio down. Gravity cannot keep FBill Radio down. Hence why it’s a phenomenon.

Signed up today after months, wow the ally has been good to us … (not sarcastic). After only a few months were kicking in the comedy 20’s with only 12 shows so far! I see people with over a hundo shows; that are lost in the fray. We choose to ask for votes here because I don’t care for Pickles. Seriously they are bad.

Out of buffalo, NY comes Night Shift PodCast. We are light comedy. We enjoy video games and tech; but don’t overwhelm a show with that because we feel a mix of people -need a mix of show. As newer Podcasters we’re enjoying the extremely loyal fan base we have; trying to interact as much as we can. No sound effects or clips here, we hate them … unless that’s the joke.

Lastly as for us as carbon based life forms …

My name is Dale, and I'm a podcaster.
Hi, Dale. :)
Here's a description of our 'cast.

Tech Talk for Families provides a weekly podcast featuring Dale and Teresa, a dad and mom of three children who also served as licensed foster parents. Dale uses his training in teaching, speaking, and writing to bring you the information you need, and Teresa holds a degree in elementary education and over a decade as a full-time mom. They combine their training, experience, and lifelong interest in technology (and a houseful of electronics, computers, and video game consoles!) to bring you weekly technology news that actually matters to your family.

While news and reviews from the the major tech media are useful, who knows more about what your child will like to play or how to deck out your minivan, a childless pundit or a full-time mom?

Each podcast includes news about recalls, upcoming products, reviews of the latest gadgets and video games, and interviews with those in the tech industry.

Left Wing Conservative
Dec 18th, 2008, 11:59 PM
Hi everyone:

This is really more of a re-introduction than anything as I have an altar ego on here which I'm "retiring" because it no longer fits what I'm doing.

As I'm sure you have figured out by now, I'm the host of an all-political podcast called The Left Wing Conservative. Now, why do I call myself a "Left Wing" conservative? Heh...Well the answer is really quite simple (At least I think ).

I'm what you might call something of a "Liberal Conservative". Some people call us Libertarians, but I don't believe myself to be such. But rather, I consider myself to be more of an "Old Skool" Liberal, which is why I'm a registered Democrat.

While I don't necessarily agree with those on the far left, I certainly can't say I agree with ANYTHING the Right-Wing Republicans have said and/or done recently either. In other words, I sort of "Straddle The Political Fence" as it were and often find myself riding it like a hobby horse for kids (That is ASSUMING I can actually get on it without the Republicans either saying or doing some stupid that sends me bolting back to the left).

So there you have it. My political personality. Love it or loathe it. It's just who I am.

Cheers :):)

Does anybody know how you go about doing it on this site? My music is a bit experimental but still quite catchy and accessible. Thanks in advance to anybody who can point me in the right direction!
I have some songs on myspace.com/eclecticsubmarine if anybody is interested.

Hi I'm Azure, I've been voice acting online for 9 years ( before podcasts remember Real Media radio stations XD?). I listen to a big variety of podcasts, particularly audio drama, a few of which I take part in. I also write and mix my own projects, though haven't done anything of late.
I also run voiceacting.co.uk (http://www.voiceacting.co.uk), which after a recent relaunch I hope will continue to grow as a great place to find tutorials and to cast voice actors.

I'm Rachel, I have been listening to podcasts daily for a couple of months now, and I'm addicted. Luckily I have a monotonously boring job which allows me much use of my Zen micro (that's a 4gig mp3 player for you ipod people http://webcache.podcastalley.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Mel Fabregas here. I'm the host of The Veritas Show (http://www.verit*****w.com) and I want to pick your brains. What got me to this forum was the fact I'm losing faith on Podbean and need to find a new house for my files.

All the best,

Hi everyone - I'm producing a podcast! Weekly episodes (and blog) by four moms living in Los Angeles, talking about everything and anything!

I am a newbie, so I would love to hear feedback about sound quality, production tips - I love constructive criticism and would be happy to listen to your show too!

I'm looking for new shows to subscribe to _I listen to everything EXCEPT politics and religion :)

best, Jerilyn

Hello everybody! My name is Ethan and I just started podcasting a few weeks ago. My podcast is This Week In Interesting (http://thisweekininteresting.us.tt), and I'm also on the iTunes Music Store. My first two episodes are already up and there's a new episode every Monday afternoon, usually before 1 pm. So, here's a little about me:

Favorite Music: Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Allison Kraus and Robert Plant, Black-Eyed Peas, Brad Sucks, Die Fantastischen Vier, Mylene Farmer, AFI, Ludo, Rodney Crowell, The Chieftans, The Raconteurs, The White Stripes, and way too many more to list...

Favorite Books: The Wheel of Time Series, The Darksword Trilogy, The Foundation series, The Chronicles of Narnia, Songs of Earth and Power by Greg Bear, Mists of Avalon, and once again too many more to list

Podcasts I Listen To: Cranky Geeks, The Apple Byte, Cult of UHF, Cult of Kung Fu, MSNBC Countdown

General Dislikes: organized religion (I don't care what you believe, just don't get into a large group and start making decisions for other people); large numbers of idiots in one place (spread yourselves out, people!); Virginia and Florida drivers (Virginia: Quit crossing five lanes of traffic at a time!; Florida: It's just rain! It happens practically every day there!); people who have no idea what they're talking about, but open their mouths anyway, Twilight (abusive relationships and suicide, but the abstinence makes it all okay)

What my podcast is about: Pretty much anything if it ends with ism or ology, or could conceivably end with either. My first episode was about Gnosticism, my second was about economic socialism, and you'll just have to guess the third one.

Other random stuff: My production quality is okay, hopefully I'll start sounding better once I get a USB external sound adapter (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0027EMHM6/ref=s9_simz_gw_s0_p23_t2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=09M1JPKJBHMWBB5B70RJ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846) for my microphone. I'm recording on my macbook, and it only has line-in, so I need the adapter to use my mic.
