Paul--
I'm listening to your podcast right now and I will definitely subscribe your feed. Not sure if you know this, but the firewire card for the Onyx series only sends PRE-insert (thus pre-eq, pre-fader, pre-everything else), so your article is a little misleading esp. in regard to effects routing.
I already had the 1620 I use at work sitting on the desk before I learned this important tidbit.
Mackie doesn't publicize it, but the general use is creating a two-track master of a live performance and simultaneously a totally dry multi-track version.
Again, love your podcast--can't wait to learn more about FCP. I have been thinking about doing exactly what you did with the beginner, interm., and advanced podcast setup recommendation.

Paul,
I specified in the article that effects routing is only possible through outputs other than the firewire card bus. My siganl is routed from the Mackie outputs to a Motu 896HD Interface. I'm not sure why Mackie does not make this issue clear in their description/specs...
Thanks for the heads up.
