Hi,

I'm not sure if you are asking about listening to the file while scrolling through or fast forwarding. But you use the scroll bar at the bottom of the Audacity window then click with the selection tool at the point you want to start listening or editing.

I think the feature I'm looking for is called "scrubbing." I want to be able to drag the playhead in the main window and hear the audio at the speed I'm dragging. I'm used to that feature from iMovie on the Mac. Makes it so much easier to locate a particular spot in the audio file.

I don't think I've seen anything like that but I just started using Audacity a few weeks ago. I can see where that ability would be very helpful, especially with large files.
