Hello:

I am new here and am currently working on starting a podcast, go figure. Anyway, I am a technical person not a creative person that can create art or SFX things that take a some kind of creative talent. However, I can follow a tutorial and base what I do, art and sound wise, from that to get something interesting. My biggest problem is I am wanting an origianl intro to my podcast. I also am wanting to add SFX in becuase I think it kind of adds to the quality of the podcast. I don't know how to make intro music or were to add sfx in the podcast. If someone could give me a link to a tutorial on how to do this or some tips it would be greatly appreciated because i can't seem to find anything on it.

Thank you,
Buddy Lindsey

We've been using Garageband to create our intro and some music for interludes. This is a good solution if you are on a Mac. If you are on Windows you might want to look at Sony Acid to create your own.

Heck, let me know what kind of music you want for an intro and I'll whip something up in Garageband for you to use if you mention the Bitsmack Podcast!

To add it to your podcast the easiest would be to use Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/). Create a track for your podcast, and then another track for your intro and sfx.

I've got some SFX and music beds available to Podcast Alley citizens only. If you're interested, visit "texasmusicforge dot com" and click on the link for "Samples." There is also a thread from Ferf somewhere in this group that mentions royalty-free music in the title that has a bunch of links.

I have a pretty good FX library built up if you're in need of something special (you can e-mail me privately) and a previous poster on this list graciously offered to make some music in GarageBand for you (and offered a good tip on Audacity - a free program) - so get busy. Welcome to the community.
