no-one is actually saying who they are, theyre just posting links, you smelly bastards ;)

I'm Rob, and i'm from near London in England, and i have a podcast with my housemate Steve who is from the north of England, so we have a nice difference in accents dynamic going on :P I guess we play 'non-radio' music, and have hmm, an eclectic taste. each show is different in content, so because we dont want to replay tracks, its worth getting old shows to hear something you may not have heard, or if you didnt like the music in one show, you may like the music in another. we talk a bit too much, and its normally inane, but i'm sure we'll calm down as we make more shows. if you like post-rock, indie, electronica, anything not mainstream, or just want to broaden your musical horizons a little further, then tune in. (also listen to things like tracks up the tree, radio clash, insomnia, whyme, in over your head, tragically nameless, one rotted note, not your usual bollocks etc etc) hopefully youll find at least one band/artist that you like, and yknow, thats a good thing :)

RED BAR RADIO is two hours of non-stop radio madness. This isn't you're average "put-me-to-sleep" talk radio show. I'd be pleased to have you give a listen to Lifespring! I record this podcast at the church I attend in Riverside, California. Post production is done at my humble home.

I play mostly indie Christian music, I occasionally interview interesting people, and I talk about faith in Christ.

Music, conversation, and reasons to believe!

Lots of great stuff at http://www.godcast.org ... the original podcast network includes a variety of Christian podcasts, the very creative "The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd," and THE podcast for podcasters: "Behind the Scenes."
You'll laugh, you'll cry, you may run away screaming. But you won't be able to see you didn't check it out.

What is with all of these god-loving bible-casts? I just don;t get it. Is this some kind of new fad?

I think the church is targeting podcasting as a way to convert youth. Watch out for these podcasts. I find this creepy.

GODCAST? Ok this is going too far - you gotta be kidding me. What is this trend in god all of a sudden. This isn't weird to anyone else???

Please dont respond with passages from the bible, of so called proof that Jesus is real - I don't buy it. In fact - dont even respond at all. I'm just pissed that I have to share this forum with a bunch of kooks.

Funny, I was about to ask the same quesiton about all these free-speech-loving radio-casts.

I'm actually listening to your show while I'm typing this...I check out most shows at least once rather than throw a blanket stereotype over them. Yours is pretty good. Not exactly my style, and not something I'd recommend to other Christians (as I'm sure you'd prefer!), but well done for what it is.

Thanks Craig. Is this how "you" pull us in - by giving complements? Just kidding.

I'm going to get rid of the free speech thing. That was something we promoted our show with when it first started - it's a little too overused now.

Dont let god make you crazy - thanks again for your kind words,

dude, red bar radio guy, stop being a jerk. i'm no christian but at least i respect othere people's beliefs, however wrong they may be ;) and there _is_ vague historical evidence that jesus did in fact exist, but obviously, no proof that he was the son of the christian god. if you want more listeners, stop insulting them :P or else, god will lay his fiery vengeance down upon you ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus <- read this and learn something for once in your life

also, as far as i can tell, the majority of the godcasts dont try and promote christianity, try and brainwash people into believing, or to convert people, as they are primarily FOR christians in the first place. also, note that i went to a church of england primary school and secondary school and im still an atheist/agnostic so i hardly think a few well produced christian podcasts are going to be subverting the youth in their droves ;)

anyway, love your brother, not hate him, the more hysterical religious factions dont seem to be at the cutting edge of technology and media communication, so i dont think we have to worry just quite yet. although there is george bush...

Well. . .getting back to the topic at hand.

Live and Direct (http://emusicjunkie.com) is my newest podcast. I had been meaning to get it together sooner but many other things were working against me. It was born due to my almost obsessive hobby of collecting and trading live shows (of which I have hundreds). The kind that are not commercially available.

Most think of people that collect bands like Phish or the Grateful Dead etc. when the topic is brought up. But I am not into either. I collect everything from old R&B to The Clash to you name it pretty much. This podcast is a way to show people what a great hobby it is. As well as providing some samples of great live music.

The first podcast was my little tribute to Hunter S. Thompson, with a sampling of various recording of his speaking engagements. So it was a little off topic, but still involved live recordings. ;)

Our next podcast will be offered in both MP3 (lossy) and FLAC (lossless). Making it the first podcast I have heard of in an audiophile format. :D Soon after we will offer shows in Apple Lossless (AAC) as well. . .

PS- Craig has been here longer than many others. He is very helpful to people and cool in my book. I have never heard him doing anything resembling proselytizing since this is a board about podcasting. Other people seem to forget that a lot. . .

Something weird happened to this thread. The author must have changed the topic and been deleted, because it was originally something totally different.

Here's my response to the current topic:

My name is Ian, and I host Free Talk Live, a syndicated radio show. We're not a "free speech" show, because it's my show and I set the rules. That said, the rules are pretty loose, and we let people call in about virtually anything. We have a blast.

It should be noted that we have christians who are major fans of the show, even though I'm an atheist. That's a testament to the respect we give to our callers and listeners.

Regards,
Ian

Rob, I am not trying to hate any of my "brothers". And please, don't offer me any more of your jesus folklore links. I don't care if there was a regular person NAMED Jesus, for I am against the belief of the "son of god" Jesus.

I don't even care really, and it wouldn't bother me - but almost every god ****ed post I go into, I see that blonde son of a bitch from Catholic Cast. He drives me nuts. That picture of him wearing those stupid glasses and looking up at the sky in what seems to be his grandmothers house, makes me cringe everytime I see it. I just wish him and his calculator watch would go find another place to make smart *** comments.

"Like I'm gonna let some Ricky Schroder wanna-be front me???"

To the Catholic Cast guy: Please don't respond to this with something like "you're so closed- minded, or "I don't appreciate this". If you want to live in wholesome-cloud land, go to one of your churches. This is internet radio, not a baptism.

I create The Catholic Cast weekly from my grandmothers house. She's pretty supportive, even though she's a card carrying member of "Save Free Will Baptist Church, incoporated" and believes O.S.A.S. carte blanche. Sometimes, she gets made because I make so much noise and interrupt her game shows, and also because I find double predestination R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!!!!

Anyways, I use my awesome Amitron calculator watch to time the sections of my show; You can see a picture of it here:

Did I mention how awesome my watch is?!?!??!! It has so many functions and is great for podcasting!

My glasses are made of plastic and my favorite television shows are American Idol and Silver Spoons.

I also prefer phonics over whole language instruction.

Aloha from Honolulu. Can't pass up another opportunity to pimp, even though there's a whole forum for plugging shows (http://www.podcastalley.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=16). I invite you to check out mine, HawaiiUP (http://www.hawaiiup.com), which is only up to episode four but is already a fun obsession of mine that's keeping me up too late at night...

I'm a father of three who's been online since BBS, gopherspace, USENET days, and I seized on podcasting as a natural extention to the written exhibitionism, or escribitionism, I've been practicing for nine years now. But, a personal podcast needs an interesting person, and since I'm not exactly that, I've been working hard to find great island music to share with the world, in addition to audio excursions, interviews, and recaps of local news...

My show's made on the cheap and sounds like it, but I'm having fun doing it and I hope that comes through. Thanks for listening!

Plugging is sure fun, isn't it?

We have a general hang-out discussion type podcast that we do from where ever is convenient that week out of Texas. It's my brother, myself and one of our long time friends doing what we always do, only with mics turned on. It's been a lot of fun, and has been getting really good response from the listeners we have. The part that makes ours the most fun I think is the lack of preparation. We generally don't write a thing, or discuss topics before hand then the show is recorded as live, bounced out of Logic Express and up to the server it goes... as is. We like the natural feel of just hanging out with us that this creates. I hope you have the time to give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Oh well why not. My name is Jake, and I'm a podcaster. I do a little audiblog called Random Noise. It's mostly pointless, but it keeps me entertained. I talk about various subjects for a few minutes, and then tweak it for an hour.

Starting next week, I'm starting a second cast called Fly by Radio. It'll be the day’s news from the Aerospace industry, with a little bit of commentary by me.

White Rabbit here. I shudder a bit even as I type this because somehow it feels dirty and shameful like playing with yourself outside an old woman's window....or maybe not.

What the hell here it goes. At Down The Rabbit Hole we started off our show with much more noble intentions, however things have degraded over the last four shows as I've steadily lost control over my two lovely co-hosts. Now we are pretty much an anything goes, general discussion, where the topic isn't as important as how we maul it.

So give us a listen as we prove almost daily, that being "Ladylike" is actually quite obscene.

I present Radio Clash - http://www.mutantpop.net/radioclash/ which is where you'll hear mashups. mixes, weird covers and cutups (and sometimes what others call 'normal' music, and, err, accordions ;-), bootleg scene news. interviews, growls and stupidity. I'm 31 and from London, currently on Show 19...show 20 will be at the weekend and will be a special co-presented with my mate of many years, Kirk.

It's mostly music, but a fair amount of talk also, about upcoming events, the DJs and artists behind the tracks (making the desktop/internet mashup DJ a bit less 'faceless').

And occasionally a lot of drinking and scurrilous twisted rumours with a nice musical backing.

On a more serious note (and not heard allthewhile's cast but heard other godcasts) I wish there would be more questioning of faith and belief in these casts. Repeating passages in the bible, where for believers might be interesting, is dull as ditchwater for others. Maybe some get a perverse Shipping Forecast vibe out of it, I dunno...explain your religion, don't assume people know anything about it. I've been assumed to be an Xtian bny default because of where I live and schooling, but it's not true...

The only religious or belief casts I've actually listened to are ones that question - there is doubt but also explaination of what they believe. My father taught me to question all faiths and religions and to belong to none but your own religion or beliefs or faith, including none (he's a zen budhhist via quaker and methodism - why I've never been christened. best decision he ever made, I'd feel violated if I was.)

I still might think it's a load of old cobblers - and generally do - but I appreciate the history lessons of say David Macdowell (sp?) talking about Calvinism for example on OpenPodcast.org. And that he's talking about something he feels greatly about, so greatly that he wants to explain it and how he got there...and expressing his doubts and fears and questioning.

I think godcasters could learn a lot from him.

That''s something I'm currently working on for The GodCast Network. I also want more shows that allow non-Christians to at least walk away thinking "so that's why they believe that," even if they still don't agree.

Too many ideas, too little time is my challenge at the moment.

While, I don't speak for all the Godcasters, I can tell you why my content is shaped the way it is. I want to bring some hope into the day of everyone listening. I also want to challenge how people interact in their relationships and to inspire them to try harder when it comes to their family and friends.

My show is to take a practical thought and apply some practical scripture -- that's what brings in the "faith" element.

With the RevTim Podcast, I will challenge you to read the Bible and explore your faith, but my goal is not to teach a religious course. I'm hopeful another podcast will come around accomplishes this, but will not be boring. :)

I think having some kind of direction and focus helps listeners to trust what you have to say as their expectations are met with each episode.

That sounds like a good idea...I'm unlikely to be converted but I'm always interested in the history of faith and spirituality - not just Xtianity but all faiths...classic one would be why and how the established churches got themselves in a tizz about homosexuality?

Or the Conference (?) of Nicea (sp?) that decided what goes in the Bible and what doesn't - or what the Dead Sea scrolls actually say - if we know.

I find all of this interesting - like how did we get here now? Why do people believe what they believe? Know what we know? What were the historical sources or contested bits? etc.

I'm a philosopher at heart you can tell ;-)

That entire post I made was satire! I don't live with my grandmother or have that watch. I thought it was so ridiculous no one would have believed it. Oh well.

Anyways, if you'd like to hear more "unbelief" I'd suggest you check out my next show. I'm starting a segment where I discuss religion with my grandfather. He's a cantacorous 78(?) year old unbeliever. We argue all the time about faith and religion, so I thought it'd be neat to record it and broadcast it out for the masses.

There's already a ton of catholic "apologetics" shows out there, defending and explaining the faith on regular broadcast radio; reasons for faith live, open line, catholic answers, so I thought I'd try to do things differently with my show.

Hi!

I produce a podcast of original songs and stories that I write and record. I have really been concentrating on music lately. It ranges in style from rock to electronica to remixes of Johnny Cash tunes. I think it's quite eclectic and fun. I don't talk at all, I just record the song and post it on the site. Only on the Johnny Cash Ring of Fire Remix post, I put a little commentary at the beginnin and end asking the legal bigwigs not to sue me if they heard the song.

Anyway, please come by and check it out!
