possible thought here is that a bunch of people record a voice chat session on something like Yahoo, record it, and use that as the podcast. it would be great for a Howerd Stern like group thing, or for interviews with like a cast or something.

Chatrooms can become to hectic and disorganized, if you enter a chatroom you'll often see different layers of conversations taking place in the same conversation frame, which would of course be very confusing, frustrating, and boring to the listener.

maybe sometthing more of a roundtable than a chat room. Limit it to a few folks and you've got yourself a plan.

it's called a podcast pickle party.
head over to http://www.podcastpickle.com and look for the latest podcast party.
people join the podcast pickle chat, and then they skype each other into a big conversation, and then the party ensues.

I'm new to Skype but can't you conference multiple people and record in Skype by just using Skype by itself?
(Not that the pickle thing isn't pretty cool. Just curious.)

There are some shows that do that now.
