I dont know much about this because I jumped into podcasting on a Mac (10.3) but I hear people are having issues with earlier versions.
I got an email that says you can use NetNewsWire (from Ranchero.com) to get your podcasts. Doesn't work like an iPodder, but gets the job done.

Yes - this is absurd. I simply can't find any ipodding software for my mac without forking out for a £99 OS upgrade. I've tried newsnetwire, which will open the mp3 files in your browser, but can't work out how to get them into itunes...arrrgggh!!!

This Just In:
The developer of Pod2Go (one of my favorite mac apps) has got back to me. If you are using Mac OS X ( 10.2.8 ) this is one of the only apps i know to get podcasts with. Most apps seem to be developed for 10.3 +
Anyway, find the software that will download podcasts, news, movies and much more at:

Another possibility, not at all automatic though. The Sage (http://sage.mozdev.org/) extension for FireFox can handle enclosures after a fashion[/url]
