Hello everyone.

I've been searching for a way to record phone calls into my computer using a voice modem. I've had some success with Callsoftpro, but wanted to see if there was something out there that's freeware or a plugin for audacity or something like that.

I listened to Craig Pratchett's Behind the Scenes podcast and he says that he believes that there might be freeware programs for recording phone calls, but didn't name any. I also couldn't find anything about it in his show notes .

I've been searching up and down, but I'm starting to think my only option is buying something like Callcorder or Callsoftpro.

Does anyone know of something in the freeware realm or a way of using Audacity or something similar to record phone calls with a voice modem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Unfortunately, recording phone calls with a voice modem is pretty much useless. It's a technical thing, that software just can't get around. At best you wind up with a recording of your own voice blasting, and the other party's voice barely audible. Broadcasters use specialized gear for recording phone calls. Bottom line is that you will have to spend around $250 bucks to get a good phone recording. Although there are many cheaper gadgets, they all suffer from that imbalance problem.

Markertek sells telephone interfaces used by reporters and such. They have a website you can find easily.
