In this first installment of MythArc Radio, husband and wife authors Derek P. Gilbert and Sharon K. Gilbert discuss their vision for the MythArc series of supernatural thrillers, and the events in the news that inspired them to create the series.

The conspiracy of the week is the media's silence about the unnatural deaths of nearly four dozen prominent scientists, many of whom were biologists and geneticists connected to bioweapons research. What did they know? Who wanted them dead? And do their deaths relate to the mysterious appearance of killer diseases like AIDS, SARS, and the H5N1 strain of avian flu that the United Nations warns may develop into the next global pandemic?

Links to sites mentioned in the show: Steve Quayle's Dead Scientists List (http://www.stevequayle.com/dead_scientists/UpdatedDeadScientists.html) and related news articles. (We were low on the number of dead scientists, by the way. The total is now up to 49 since October, 2001.) The other link of note is Dr. Patricia Doyle's Emerging Diseases Discussion List. (http://www.clickitnews.com//ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=emergingdiseases)

One final note: We neglected to mention that the Steve Grace CD "New Day Coming" is available from deepercalling entertainment. (http://www.deepercalling.com/) Steve, by the way, was the 1996 Gospel Music Association International Artist of the Year, and this disk is full of great music. The song we used as our opening and closing theme is, of course, the title track.

After a false start yesterday, we present MythArc Radio #2: A brief discussion of developments this week with the MythArc novels, especially concerning the attempt to cross the border between mainstream and "Christian" fiction.

We received our first complaint letter this week, accusing us of, well, heresy for claiming to be Christians while using "gutter" language in our writing. Ironically, the gentleman who wrote us based his opinion on the first few pages of Sharon's novel The Armageddon Strain, which as of this writing is the featured fiction excerpt at the Christian Broadcasting Network. (http://www.cbn.com/entertainment/books/fiction_ArmageddonStrain.asp)

We're tracking a few news items of interest here in the bunker: RFID chips may not be as safe (http://mytharc.com/forum/index.php?topic=830.0) as the government claims they are; watch for the United Nations to try to take over the Internet (http://mytharc.com/forum/index.php?topic=795.0); the avian flu continues to worry health officials, so much so that a shipment of boneless chicken feet was impounded (http://mytharc.com/forum/index.php?topic=824.0) by the Department of Agriculture; and scientists in Silicon Valley have announced plans to genetically engineer a mouse with a brain made of human cells. (http://mytharc.com/forum/index.php?topic=828.0)

Theme music again by Steve Grace, the title cut from his CD New Day Coming (http://www.deepercalling.com/index.php?module=subjects&func=viewpage&pageid=15). And if you listen carefully, you'll hear a guest appearance by our 15-pound, four-legged security chief, Murphy. He wanted union scale, but he settled for his stuffed piggy.
