It's about five minutes long, and just shows how I catch and sync podcasts. I should have been more detailed about my synching process, but oh well.
If you like what you see, please vote for me.
p.s. to all mac users: I couldn't get a good encoding in quicktime format. I tried, trust me!

Sorry, allthewhile - I didn't see yor first posting, but I did see your second...
Not only will it not play in QuickTime, it won't even play in Windows Media Player on my Mac. It plays just fine on the PC though. Good job - I could see people linking to this from their blogs to help the non-technorati learn how to get podcasts.
Stuff like this is great for the community and helps get podcasts into the hands of people who don't have the to read through a lot of instructions.
Well, I liked it until I saw the listing of shows that you subscribe to and Coverville wasn't there... Hmmmph.
Kidding.
And by the way, your avatar cracks me up every single time I see it.

Do you know of any encoders that can encode from wmv to quicktime?
I'm gonna make an entire series of these, but want them to be as universal as possible. I like coverville!

I don't know of anything that'll go from WMV to QuickTime, but I can go from AVI to QuickTime. If you've got something that'll go from WMV to AVI, I could help encode it the rest of the way.

There are a few to choose from but most cost $$$

Why not just use a Flash Demo makeer to do it? It would be compatible with every browser and less bandwidth intensive.

I didn't see your first post, either. Otherwise I would have commented earlier. You did a great job on this, and I would love to point to the video from my show notes page if that's okay.
I especially like that you are a subscriber to Lifespring! Thank you!!!

thanks for the positive feedback!
I looked into doing flash, but how do you do it for free? There's a really neat program out there but it's like 200 bucks.
Please, feel free to link to it from anywhere, man.
Anyone know of a flash converter?
What other videos would be helpful?

I assume your just using the Windows Media Encoder 9 to do the screen video?
Do you have a copy of Flash MX? You could convert the video file and import it into a Flash SWF.
More on Flash video:

The best Flash demo maker I know of is Qarbon:

There use to be a freeware Flash demo maker but it is not around anymore that I know of.
There is always the OpenOffice Impress or MS PowerPoint optin. Just do the web version of one. (?)

Hey, allthewhile, it worked great for me -- I'm on a PC.
The only thing ... I agree with Brian, It seems you missed not only his great podcast COVERVILLE --- but you also have missed mine, REVTIM PODCAST. ;-)
Now, I'm sure you missed COVERVILLE and REVTIM PODCAST by accident.
In fact it would probably be a good idea to make up for this by immediately going to VOTE for COVERVILLE and REVTIM PODCAST. If you need more information about how to do this :-) just e-mail or ask here.
I am sure that COVERVILLE and REVTIM PODCAST would love to help you out.
Oh, can I post a link to the video on my show notes page???
Peace,
Tim

Hey, allthewhile, if you want me to e-mail you a Quicktime version I can. I have converted it and just let me know by e-mailing me a request.
Thanks,
RevTim

I feel sort of like a broken record, but I keep going back to my favorite apps as recommendations for podcasting.
ACID (not the free Xpress though, but you can get Studio for like 60$) can convert (and even open in its timeline) .wma and .mov/.qt content. Just go to File-->Render As and choose your format. It will convert it for you just like that. If you are really into editing video as well as audio, then get their Vegas (professional app, 500$+) or Vegas Movie Studio+DVD (around 90$ at Best Buy)
Also, I've used Wink as a free flash tutorial creator. It's free! hard to beat that. http://www.debugmode.com/wink/

sorry, forgot to mention, Sony's Vegas and Movie Studio can open vector based .swf (flash) files in their timelines and convert them to any other video format you want to use. Mostly just a titler or text converter, but you could probably use it for lots of stuff...

Thanks for the video. obviously if nobody learns how to get feeds
podcasting could wither away. Lets show others how to get podcast and grow this pod! :-)
Question. I love doppler very user friendly. Where or how do I get software that will automatically store podcast into my iRiver mp3 player?
I love how the ephpod2 works for ipod..is there something out there universal for other mp3 players?
Thanks,
Jim

Nice video, I made a basic one too about podcatching... mainly for people who are downloading my custom ipodder.
I'm planning to redo it soon so if you have any suggestions at all, I would appreciate them also.

BTW, the video is in flash. If you have any questions about making videos in flash, just ask.
