Hey,
I'm possibly going to be starting a podcast soon, and while the first ones may just be me using my PC mic, I was wondering - what sort of mics could I use, should I choose to buy one?

I need one which will pick up sound in a radius of about 3 feet or more, mainly from the front - as I may have more than one person/be walking around/doing demos etc.
Also, it needs to be fairly low-priced... I'm cheap!

Anyway, TIA.

I picked up the Shure 8900 mic for about $40 online (google it)--it even came with cables and a nice desk stand. It is NOT self-powered--it has to go through a soundboard or amplifier of some sort.

I'm using a Eurorack with Phantom XLR so that shouldn't be a problem. Sounds good, I'll definately look into it! :D

I use the internal mic on my iMac G4. You'd be amazed at the sound quality.

If you're going to be moving around you may want to look into lavalier or headset mics.
