I have a pretty old soundcard even though my computer is pretty nice and was wondering if sound quality of the recording depends on the soundcard.

Also, Would it be worthwhile to look for a digital mixer, or will analog be enough? Or is there even a difference.

In a word, YES. Crappy SoundBlaster or other cards = crappy sound. If you're looking for a low-cost alternative, I'd highly recommend the Audiophile 2496 from M-Audio or the Emu 0404 - both around $100 USD. There will be a learning curve involved in getting them up and running but you'll be amazed by the improvement in sound quality.

Friends don't let friends record with SoundBlaster...
