Hey Everybody!!!! I recently got into this new podcasting thing and I'm loving it. I've started listening to a bunch of different shows.

Well, this is what I need help with. I'm actually a communications major in college and I'm a senior. Every senior has to pic a thesis topic and write an 11 page paper and give a 15 min presentation at the end of the semester. Well, it just so happens that my topic is podcasting. It's something I'm really interested in and want to learn more about.

Part of our paper is that we have to conduct our own original research. For my original research I was thinking of trying to find people that know a lot about podcasting and people that have their own podcast radio shows and asking them a few questions. So, my question to you all is, is there ANYBODY out there that would be willing to fill out a small survey with some questions for me ? I'd email it to you. I would totally appreciate it and it would help me out sooooo much. If you would be able to do this for me please reply to this message or send me an email at AngelM_82@hotmail.com and let me know!!!! Thanks so much!!!!

Just sent you email. (Both of you know that if you post your email on the web like that the spammers will harvest it, right?)

Yup, but since gMail has such great spam protection I don' t have to worry about it.

For my home account I use a service from http://www.knowspam.net . Absolutely love it. No spam messages in almost a year. Sure, they still get sent to me, but I never see them.

So Craig...how do we connect with each other if we don't post email addresses?

Good question. You can use the email link on my home page at http://godcast.org. Or, just for fun, I'm trying an obfuscated version of my email address here: craig@godcast.org (view the source for this page and search for 'obfuscated' to see what I mean).

Most forums support form-based email between members. I'll ask Chris if that's an option here.

The other way plenty of people share e-mails that spammers can't spider is typing it something like this:

cc DOT Chapman AT gmail.com = cc.chapman@gmail.com

Or I've seen people do cc.chapman_REMOVE THIS_@gmail.com

I haven't seen any forum software with built in forms based e-mail. I know most of them (including this one) have the personal message option which is always handy.

Here's one that when you click on the email button next to a post opens up a new window with a form:

http://forum.snitz.com/

You're right though...the private message option (which I hadn't even noticed) would be an easy way to exchange email addresses or other contact info.

the only truly reliable way of avoiding spam (btw you can get spam via RSS feeds - the spam bots just trawl through anything including code for the addresses) is doing this:

http://www.mutantpop.net/radioclash/radioclash_email_bw.gif

(Please retype this in your email prog).

Otherways are still rife to being picked up - the AT and REMOVETHIS I've used but still not stopped spam, quite easy to convert AT and DOT to @ and . programatically. Even Friends Reunited do that to scan for posted addresses - try using odd characters like * - or ! around them, that could confuse.

Happy to answer any questions about this thesis there...by the way.
