I was wondering what the steps were to rebroadcast a show on an online radio station. I have 2 online radio stations, and would love to add some of these shows to my playlist.

Thanks!

I originally wanted to do that myself. I wanted to have the show on my site and then stream it using Shoutcast, but unfortunately my hosting company isn't set up for Shoutcast. **** them. I think it's a great idea.

Well I actually have my own station and wanted to USE the shows that are here and rebroadcast them on my station. I was wondering if these Podcasts are copyrighted, public domain?

I am going to leave the show totally in tact like it is. Some of these shows are really good, and Id love to add them for my listners to hear. The shows themselves would get more promotion, so I really don't see any problem with it.

I was just wondering how that would work. I have done some searches trying to find the answer, but have failed to find anything on this subject.

Well hell, if you think our show is good enough, broadcast that b***h all over the place. All i ask is you give us credit. Great idea if you can actually pull it off.

Alrighty..I think I figured this out, and I am not sure if I can put this here, but feel free to move this post if necessary.

I am now looking for Podcasts to rebroadcast on an online radio station. Any and all podcasts are welcome. I am looking to fill 1 hour slots throughout the week. If interested, please e-mail me at s@aaronsnet.com with some info on the show. Its a small streaming radio station, but any publicity helps!

thanks!

We are already doing this over at PodcastMania. Get in touch, maybe we can work something out.

well, what i am doing is rebroadcasting podcast shows on a streamed internet radio station, with the shows being broadcast at specific times. It is also open to anyone instead of invite only, although your service is good. I like that you can just listen to the show whenever you'd like.

Well I have had some replies, and been able to add some different shows. I am still, and will continue to look for more people to rebroadcast their shows on my online radio station. If you are interested, feel free to e-mail s@aaronsnet.com or check out http://aaronsnet.com/s/detour ... I'd love to help promote people's podcasts!

This is public airwave rebroadcasting of podcasts? Wow. I'm assuming you clean up some of the ones that let some choice four letter words slip out here and there.

After I posted I noticed the "internet radio" in your topic subject line. I'm such a loon sometimes.

Still looking to fill time slots?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be glad to broadcast ads for your podcast, free of charge. If you want, feel free to e-mail (s@aaronsnet.com) any 30-60 second promos you may have for your podcast, and I will add them to a rotation.

Thanks Podcastalley.com for helping me to find some great Podcasts for my station. I look foward to any new submissions that anyone may have!

Aaron - I know I just responded to your email, but I had a quick question. When you broadcast the shows, are you going to put ads in between them? Or ads on your site? Will the podcasters you broadcast get any returns from the advertising?

I'm just curious - it seems like you may have found a business model for podcasting.

Yeah, I was wondering that, too (business model question).

Are you looking to build hours and hours of content ... kind of like a line-up of regular shows?

Where can we go to sample what you have running already?

My station is commercial free and only plays PSA's at the present time. I actually allow Podcasters to insert any advertising they would like to within their Podcast, whether it be PSA or commercial, without charging anything additonal. (It allows Podcasters to actually draw more advertisers because they can show how many subscribers they have, and also show that it has been syndicated on other stations.) The shows are played unedited and as is. If the show is in segments, then merely a station promo and a PSA may be played in between segments. All I do is take the mp3 of your show and throw it on the air...so nope, no commercial ads, and no revenue

Now if I do start drawing advertisers. I would MORE THEN GLAD to give most of the profit to the Podcasters. If I were to begin commercial advertising, I would contact the Podcast where the ad's were to be inserted for permission and make arrangements for payment. My station was designed to help Podcasters promote their show, not to make money (but of course, if the oppurtunity is there, then why not take it?)

I will be more then glad to work with any interested Podcasters on advertising if they have interested clients. Most Podcasters on my station are merely interested in getting their Podcast out there more.

_______
RevTim...

You are welcome to check out the schedule:

http://aaronsnet.com/s/detour/schedule.shtml

to see what current Podcasters we host... we continue to add more daily as they give us permission. Right now due to content, we are only on the air during prime listening hours (8am-12am/M-F) eastern, but within a month or 2 we will be going 24/7 once we get more content.

That is what I am trying to do RevTim...I would love to actually be able to offer listeners 'hours and hours' of Podcast content, to give them a taste of what is available for them to download.

________
On another note, I just wanted to add that the detour seems to be drawing more dialup users then broadband. The detour is streamed at a low bitrate, which allows for any internet connection to connect, whether it be dialup or broadband. As I am sure a lot of you know, dial up users are sometimes unable to download podcasts because of massive download times, so broadcasting on the detour can be an alternative for dial up listeners (just a thought I had after looking over logs).

Please let me know if you have any additonal questions.
