Folks:

I'd like to introduce myself to the community and offer a little technical help to those in need of it. I'm new to podcasting but will have several 'casts up and running shortly. I've been soaking up postings at this forum for the last two days and would like to thank all of those who have generously posted their knowledge here. By way of return to this group, I'll be monitoring the forum and will be glad to offer technical help and subjective opinion for those of you still wrestling with your sound recording techniques and gear.

I make my living as a professional writer, musician and studio owner in the Austin, Texas area. These days I do a lot of work as a musical director in theatre, running pit bands and providing SFX and sound design for plays (which means I don't have to play cover tunes for drunk frat boys in the shot bars on 6th Street) and have been working on producing some audiobook content after doing some volunteer reading for the blind and dyslexic.

This entire medium and community fascinate me and I'm looking forward to tilling the soil in the audio fields alongside y'all.

Regards,

Tio Ed

Welcome to the community!

Some great music on your web page, would like to play some of it on Bandtrax.net if your open to it.

Thanks for the kind words and your interest in the music. Please, feel free to use whatever music you'd like on Bandtrax. I'm happy to extend the same courtesy to anyone else from our little community here for use on their own sites. All I *require* is notice that you're using it.

Hmmmm....I've seen some postings on the forum from people looking for intro and background music. Would there be any interest from folks in our community if I posted a few free downloads of background music, cues, SFX, etc. on my website? Anyone who might find this useful, please post here and I'll set about writing and recording a few things this week if there is sufficient interest.

Best regards to all,

Tio Ed

Welcome!!

I really hope more people/podders join this forum in the future. I'm really looking for a (lively) community where I can drop my questions and/or discoveries regarding podcasting.

I'd sure be VERY interested! Right now all I've got is a single cd from the folks over at Levitan Loops (http://www.musicloops.com/Cart/BITEM6/BITEM6.HTM). It's pretty good, but it is just one CD of music and one of sound effects.

I'd love to get my paws on some more ... especially free stuff from someone of your obvious skill.

I'd be EXTREMELY interested in that. I basically cut up my own little intro music from a creative commons song (I still got written permission anyway just to be safe), but I'd love some help mixing it up and making a better intro out of it. I just have no clue how to go about doing that. Anything you can provide to the community would be huge.

Since there seems to be some interest, I'm going to be putting a page of free music files on my website (TexasMusicForge.com)up for the folks in this community to use. To keep my bandwidth down, let's just keep it our little secret, okay?

I've got band gigs back to back to back all weekend and a radio interview Monday, but should be able to get around to getting some .wav files posted early next week. I'll post an announcement on this forum.

I've already been contacted by one producer interested in adding some free .wav files in, so any other content producers monitoring this thread, please let me know what you've got to throw in the pot. I'll be glad to host it and also throw in a few sound effects and anything else y'all might care to suggest.

Best regards,

Tio Ed

You're brilliant. Not to mention generous. Thanks for setting up such a great resource. I look forward to it.

Sorry, I will NOT be keeping your generosity a secret

Well, I won't be giving your download link away, but I will be providing mention of your site right on the front page of mine (much like I have ipodder and podcast alley now).

I would like to ask (on your behalf) that anyone who uses your stuff also give your site honorable mention as well (it's the least we can do).

Actually, posting some free .wav files or offering some help on production works for my enlightened self-interest. Better production standards amongst ourselves = better podcasts = more listeners = more of whatever it is we want to get out of our 'casts. See? I'm actually a selfish type after all.

If there's any altruism involved, it might be that the humanist in me is mightily intrigued by whatever it is that drives all of us to talk into microphones to people we'll never see. I'm just cantankerous enough to appreciate - and want to support - something so indelibly human.

I'm going to try to post some ambient electronica, blues, a little reggae, a couple of symphonic sweeps & intros, some gutbucket rock and some atmospheric stuff like some slow slide guitar and dobro samples. I've also got some SFX of stuff like crowd noise, traffic noise, doors, phones and other stuff that might be useful. Any suggestions from y'all on what else might be good, solid tools to have in a basic audio toolbox are welcome.
