I enjoy the Engadget podcast, but haven't heard a new one since late December. Will there be any more?

I heard from somewhere that the guy that did the engadget podcast quit. So no more I guess. Can anyone here back me up on this?

Well, he's still listed as one of their editors at large

EDIT: and I remember hearing something about the show taking a break.

I don't want to sound churlish (and can't be cos I'm not even in the top 50) so if they've quit, or taken a break, why are they still #2 in the chart?
:?
Surely discontinued casts should drop out of the chart cos they're getting no votes? Or are people still voting for a dead cast?
Ferf: Why aren't chart placings judged on a rolling basis to avoid this issue? it seems a bit odd to me...you can get loads of votes then just stay there....even if you quit.

Clash:
A new system is being developed to allow sorting of podcast (meaning top 10 and beyond) every month. This should eliminate the problem with the Engadget podcast.
But, on the other side of the coin, podcasting IS allowing people to listen to shows when they want to. The fact that the show is not making podasts anymore does not mean the content is still not fabulous.
However, I do agree they should not be in the top 10 if they have given up on the show.

well surely that should be catered by the fact that if people still like the show they're still voting for it and it's still there, even if there aren't any more shows?
At the moment it looks like Engadget is there on previous votes rather than current new votes...I might be wrong as I haven't been recording the number; but I'd guess a cast with no new shows for a long while would eventually slide as less people vote?

Unfortunately, no other shows have been getting enough votes to overtake it. Once people vote for a show once, they likely don't come back again and again to vote for it to push it further up the top. To push Engadget out of the Top 10, all the shows under it would have to exceed its 579 votes. Not a big deal for a show right below it - but at #10 RNR Geek is only at about 300 - and has taken how long to get those 300? It will probably be just as long to get another 300.
No, people just aren't active enough voters....and the voting system is flawed. I know the site admins are working on this though, so hopefully we'll see a better gauge of a show's success soon.

And keep in mind that it's not just votes - it's the star ratings. The number of total stars a show receives determines its placement in the list. So a show can have fewer votes, and overtake Engadget if their star count is higher than Engadget's 2605 stars. (estimated; 4.5 star avg x 579 votes).

The new monthly top ten will really let the newer shows shine (and benefit from press attention), if they are popular enough. It will be far better than having to accumulate enough votes to overtake longtime position holders like Dawn and Drew. I personally can't wait!!
Have you got an ETA on the completion of the new system, theFerf?

Reports of Engadget's death may be exaggerated:
